Updated 2028 Rankings: NOVA Guards (Part 1)

We recently updated our 2028 class rankings in Virginia, adding over 25 names in a class that continues to get better it seems like every day. Here's a look at part one of the guards from the Northern VA area.   #3) [player_tooltip player_id='2916372' first='Damien' last='Robinson'] | 6'3” PG | Paul VI   <figure class="wp-block-image size-large"><a href="https://prephoops.com/wp-content/uploads/sites/2/2025/09/Damien-Robinson.jpg"><img src="https://prephoops.com/wp-content/uploads/sites/2/2025/09/Damien-Robinson.jpg?w=441" alt="" class="wp-image-2961598" /></a></figure>   Robinson is set to be one of the biggest stock risers in the DMV after his first DMV Live Session with Paul VI after transferring there, and he put on an absolute show as their primary ball handler and playmaker. He plays with such good pace and pushes the tempo very well, he scores the ball from all three levels efficiently, he has great wiggle and burst to touch the paint and make plays for himself and others, and he brings a competitive chip on both ends of the floor as well.   #7) [player_tooltip player_id='2194780' first='Aaron' last='Bryant'] | 6'1” PG | Gillion Academy   <figure class="wp-block-image size-large"><a href="https://prephoops.com/wp-content/uploads/sites/2/2026/04/IMG_6693.jpeg"><img src="https://prephoops.com/wp-content/uploads/sites/2/2026/04/IMG_6693.jpeg?w=1024" alt="" class="wp-image-3598437" /></a></figure>   Bryant is another player who had a great DMV Live session, and moving into the primary role this season he's set to have a big junior year for a talented Gillion team. He changes speeds and has a tight handle to break down defenders, he can drill it from deep both off the catch and off the bounce, he finishes well over bigger defenders when he gets in the paint, and he is a good on ball defender as well.   #8) [player_tooltip player_id='2884415' first='Devin' last='Ainsworth'] | 6'2” PG | SSSAS   <figure class="wp-block-image size-large"><a href="https://prephoops.com/wp-content/uploads/sites/2/2026/01/IMG_9247.jpg"><img src="https://prephoops.com/wp-content/uploads/sites/2/2026/01/IMG_9247.jpg?w=1024" alt="" class="wp-image-3316250" /></a></figure>   Ainsworth continues to improve and show he's one of the better guards in the DMV, and he really thrives as a player who can impact the game in a lot of different ways and in a lot of different roles. The 6'2” guard is fantastic in ball screens with the ability to turn the corner or drag them out and work on mismatches, he can score the ball in a number of ways off the bounce, he has great vision and can thread the needle with both hands, and he sets the tone defensively as well.   #15) [player_tooltip player_id='2353610' first='Jayden' last='Betz'] | 6'0” PG | The Saint James   Betz is a player who has been behind some very talented guards over the past few years, but he's shown a lot of improvement over the years and is set to have a big junior season this year. He's a fluid athlete with good burst and the ability to get in the paint at will, he can make plays for others and is a good finisher around the rim, he can score the ball from multiple levels, and he is great pushing the ball in transition.   #16) [player_tooltip player_id='2194772' first='Cameron' last='Jefferson'] | 6'2” CG | Bethel Academy   Jefferson transferred to Bethel this summer after a breakout season at Gainesville last year, and his addition makes them one of the top backcourts in all of the DMV and VA. The 6'2” combo is super talented and is a able to fill it up playing both on and off the ball, he's an athletic finisher in the open floor and when he gets downhill, he can drill it from deep with range, and he has all the tools to be a lock down defender moving forward.   #20) [player_tooltip player_id='3336926' first='Jaeden' last='Palmer'] | 6'2” CG | Highland   <figure class="wp-block-image size-large"><a href="https://prephoops.com/wp-content/uploads/sites/2/2026/04/IMG_6803.jpeg"><img src="https://prephoops.com/wp-content/uploads/sites/2/2026/04/IMG_6803.jpeg?w=1024" alt="" class="wp-image-3607405" /></a></figure>   Palmer is in the midst of having a big summer with DC Assault was their primary ball handler and playmaker, and he had a good showing at DMV Live as well. The 6'2” combo is an all-around player who can impact the game as both a scorer and a distributor, he thrives in transition with his speed and athleticism, he can score the ball from all three levels, and he's a good defender both on the ball and in help.   #22) Hudson Moshtashari | 6'2” CG | Bishop O'Connell   Moshtashari had a solid season off the bench for O'Connell last season, and at DMV Live he showed a lot of improvement and that he's going to have a bigger role next year as well. He's a high IQ player who makes the right decisions and plays the right way, he can make open shots off the catch and finish in the midrange, he brings great energy and toughness on both ends, and he does a lot of the little things to help his team win.   #23) Marshall Scarborough IV | 6'2” CG | Gillion Academy   Scarborough was a solid piece off the bench for Gillion last year, and with the departure of almost all of their starters from last year he's got more of an opportunity this year to make his presence known in the DMV. The 6'2” combo is a talented scorer who can create off the bounce and works well off the ball to get open, he gets downhill and finishes well through contact, he has range and a quick release from deep, and he makes plays on the defensive end of the floor too.   #29) [player_tooltip player_id='3554523' first='Braylan' last='Bell'] | 5'11” CG | Gar-field   Bell had a breakout sophomore season for Gar-field last year, and he's followed that up with a great summer playing up for Higher Level 17U as well. While he isn't the biggest guy on the court he's highly skilled with a tight handle and the ability to create space off the bounce, he shoots it very well from deep with good range, he has quick feet and good hands on the defensive end of the floor, and he brings a lot of toughness on both ends too.
