Hernandez was already the team's go-to scorer a season ago, but he looked certainly more comfortable as the weekend progressed, particularly in the matchup against Fort Collins, where he settled into his game and started hunting opportunities offensively. Once he found his rhythm on the perimeter, everything else opened up. He competed hard, played with confidence, and attacked with a purpose. He went on some mini scoring runs by himself to keep Castle View in it, and they look like they have more pieces around him that will allow his game to be a bit more free-flowing as well. I liked how aggressive he looked. Castle View is going to need that version of him moving forward but was a solid showing from him this weekend.

Hansen looked every bit like a lead guard who understands how to control a game. He handled pressure, got teammates easy looks, and consistently made the right decision with the ball in his hands. This team is going to look very different than it did a season ago, and they will have to rely more on ball handling to free them up instead of the outside shots as they did in the past, which catapults Hansen to one of the more important pieces. He looked composed, remained aggressive, and created scoring opportunities with his ability to attack when it came, to get it out of his hands quickly, and get it back, and also keep the ball moving. His value goes beyond scoring because of how much responsibility he carries, and he embraced that role all weekend.

Dorst flashed throughout camp, and you can really tell that he's been working on his game. His best performance came when the competition level rose and the game demanded more plays from him. He played with energy, stayed shot-ready, and consistently found ways to impact the game without needing plays called for him. He was attacking gaps, finishing at the basket, and had high-level plays on both ends. South is going to need secondary scoring and playmaking this year, and Dorst looks ready to provide exactly that from what we saw from him this weekend.

Kilkenny's development continues to be one of the more interesting storylines to watch. We've seen flashes before, but this weekend he looked much more comfortable operating as a primary ball handler, and they needed him to be that. He handled pressure well, settled the offense when things got sped up, and made creative plays around the basket. He also shot open 3's when they came his way. What impressed me most was how few mistakes he made despite the opposing team forcing Creek to put the ball in his hands. Creek is going to ask a lot from him this season, and I even feel like there will be times that he has to start or gets an extended look because of his he answers the call for them. This was a big weekend for his stock, and he was a booster.

Haller is a new name and stock riser for me after this weekend as he does a ton of things that keep you on the floor. He doesn't need a high volume of touches to make his mark in the game, and he provides energy. He made timely plays, hit multiple 3-pointers, and consistently found ways to help South go on runs when he was in. Good things happened when he was on the floor; he provided momentum and gave quality minutes off the bench. Players like that are hard to find, and I wouldn't be surprised if he becomes a key piece for South this season.
