June 4th-6th I attended the annual Best in Basketball Summer Invitational. It is the premier warm up event for the prestigious Section-7 with 20 Section-7 weekend teams plus others who have a chance to qualify for the weekend.

I watched every team 2-3 times and came up with many different categories to place each prospect.

Here were the Top PG/CG Shooters

[player_tooltip player_id='2949466' first='Chase' last='Crandall'] Highland

A bigger combo guard who is stretching out and keeps growing. The southpaw can score it from inside and out with threes off the catch and smartly cuts off the ball. He uses his size and length to play the passing lanes and can rebound inside. He may be still growing.

[player_tooltip player_id='3068452' first='Javon' last='Darby'] Red Mountain

A highly skilled guard can play a few positions. He will score it a variety of ways with mid-range pull-ups, catch threes, post ups using his strength and girth and will defend. He has quick hands on defense and will block shots. The third Darby brother is very skilled and tough.

[player_tooltip player_id='3474354' first='Beckett' last='Gaylord'] Highland

A younger guard get the nod to start and cashed in over the weekend. He filled it up with mid-range pull-ups, catch threes and he is very quick to the basket with his handle. When left open, he is one of the better shooters in the 2029 class and he is definitely not shy to shoot it either.

[player_tooltip player_id='2746700' first='Carter' last='Glass'] Sandra Day O'Connor (Pictured)

Simply put Carter is one of the best shooters in Arizona. The combo guard has a lightning quick release and squares up perfectly every time. He comes off of curls, screens, elevators and lets it fly in a blink of an eye. He will throw up the court pass and defend on the ball.

[player_tooltip player_id='2878046' first='Coleton' last='Hedges'] Campo Verde

A cerebral and skilled combo guard. He is a very good passer who can thread the needle with drive and kicks and in-traffic ropes. He will collect steal and take it the other way for the layup. He can shoot it from the perimeter from both levels and should breakout on varsity this season.

[player_tooltip player_id='2365144' first='Cameron' last='Koehler'] Casteel

A good sized combo guard plays some on the ball but seems best off the ball since he scores it so well. He was one of the better shooters with threes off the catch and or pull-ups off the dribble. He will rattle them in and get hot quickly. He is playing with a ton of confidence and it is showing.

[player_tooltip player_id='2276223' first='Kingston' last='Montague'] Basha

Another top of the food chain shooter is Kingston. He may have made the most mid-range jumpers throughout the two days he played with elevation plus hit the three. He will also score with left hand layups with quick first steps and will play the lead role and make plays. He has toughness to take charges and he will have a huge year.

[player_tooltip player_id='3421209' first='Kamdon' last='Edwards'] Canyon View

An undersized combo guard can fill it the scoreboard. He will score it with fast break layups and threes off the catch with some serious range. He will keep shooting regardless if he makes or misses two-three shots. He will be a huge part of the team success this year.

[player_tooltip player_id='1956216' first='Kingsley' last='Edwards'] Canyon View

An undersized point guard is quick and shifty with the ball in his hands. He is another one who can launch it from the three with parking lot range and a quicker trigger. He will play the passing lanes and collect steals and lay it in. He is in line for big season.

[player_tooltip player_id='2825310' first='Ryan' last='Morris'] Seton Catholic

A combo guard is a playing the role of the lead guard but he will still score. He has an easy stroke from the three point line and will give a hard ball fake and get to the basket. He is competitive on defense to block shots and rebound. He will be tasked to doing a lot this season.

[player_tooltip player_id='3529252' first='Brayden' last='Schmidt'] NVCA

A strong and stocky scoring lead guard. The lefty will shoot the three point shot off the catch and he comes with a quick trigger. He uses his frame and solid handle to get downhill and will score with rip thrus with his dominant left hand. When he caches fire, NVCA is hard to beat.
