A Few NEPSAC Showcase Intriguing Front Court Prospects

Joseph was a physical presence on both ends of the floor and consistently made his impact felt throughout the game. He possesses great touch around the basket and has a lean, athletic frame that looks like it could translate to playing edge rusher on Saturdays in the fall. In the half-court, he was aggressive when rolling to the rim, putting pressure on the defense and creating high-percentage scoring opportunities. His soft hands stand out, as he effortlessly secures passes from guards and quickly transitions into scoring moves. Joseph also displays good footwork and can be an acrobatic finisher around the basket, utilizing a variety of moves to put the ball in the hoop. Defensively, his length is a major asset. He consistently contested shots and timed his challenges well, erasing or altering attempts like a windshield wiper clearing away rain. What makes Joseph especially intriguing is that he is more than just an interior player. He showed the ability to put the ball on the deck, turn and face, and attack closeouts when defenders gave him space. That versatility, combined with his athleticism, touch, and defensive upside, makes him a highly appealing prospect. If he continues to perform at this level, he should see a significant increase in Division I interest and have many more programs involved in his recruitment moving forward.     Booth plays with a tremendous amount of passion and energy whenever he steps onto the floor. He does much of his damage inside the arc and runs the floor exceptionally well for his size, rim-running like a deer in the open field to create easy scoring opportunities in transition. Booth has no issues getting in the mix on the glass, battling for rebounds and helping his team win possessions. On the block, he showed impressive patience and composure, utilizing an array of post moves when defenders were on his hip or playing from behind. His body control is excellent, allowing him to finish difficult plays and maintain balance in traffic. When Booth gets into a scoring rhythm, he is capable of putting together points in bunches and taking over stretches of a game. His soft hands also stand out, as he secures passes with ease, much like a tight end hauling in a catch over the middle. I really liked how physical he was when matched up against smaller defenders, using his strength as a battering ram to create advantages in the paint. Beyond his scoring, Booth displayed strong feel as a passer, connecting with cutting teammates and delivering pocket passes to slashers for easy baskets. He also benefited from a few friendly bounces around the rim, but those shots were often the product of his touch and feel inside. For a player his size, Booth is more nimble on his feet than many would expect. Defensively, I would like to see him become a step quicker when closing out and guarding on the perimeter, but the tools are there for him to continue improving. With his combination of skill, toughness, feel, and production, Booth should be a priority target for high-academic Division I programs.     Sonny did a nice job moving without the ball in the half-court, consistently putting himself in positions to impact the game offensively. Defensively, he showed good timing when contesting shots and came away with multiple blocks, demonstrating his ability to protect the rim and alter attempts around the basket. Offensively, he took advantage of closeouts by putting the ball on the deck and attacking gaps in the defense, showing more versatility than just being a catch-and-shoot option. I also liked his vision and feel for the game. Sonny was able to connect with teammates in different areas of the floor and did a nice job feeding the post when operating on the perimeter. When attacking the basket, he displayed impressive body control, contorting around defenders while remaining balanced and under control. Defensively, he was disciplined for the most part, staying home, walling up around the rim, and making opponents earn their points. The one area I would like to see him improve is avoiding ball fakes, as he was occasionally too eager to leave his feet when guarding other bigs. Adding more strength and weight to his frame should also help him continue to develop and become even more effective on both ends of the floor.     Seltzer did an excellent job setting screens for his teammates, consistently creating space and helping generate offense within the flow of the game. His ability to stretch the floor is his calling card, and he embodies the modern stretch-five with the way he can pull opposing bigs away from the basket. He thrived in two-man actions with his guards, making smart reads and putting himself in the right spots to impact possessions. Defensively, Seltzer was active in passing lanes, coming up with steals and quickly turning defense into offense. On the block, he showed that he is more than just a perimeter threat, using fakes to keep defenders off balance while displaying solid footwork and a good understanding of how to create scoring angles. He also showed toughness by scoring through contact and earning trips to the foul line.Seltzer had good timing on the glass, securing rebounds and immediately looking to start the break. His feel for the game and ability to impact multiple areas of the floor stood out throughout the contest. The one area I would like to see improve is shot selection at times, as there were a few possessions where he appeared to force shots when a little more patience may have led to a better look for his team. Even so, his combination of shooting, skill, and versatility makes him an extremely attractive prospect. Seltzer should be a priority target for programs in the Ivy and Patriot League.     Robinson is an intriguing long-term prospect whose combination of size, length, and fluidity immediately stands out. He consistently comes up with rebounds and uses his branch-like arms to create havoc on the defensive end, contesting shots while disrupting both driving and passing lanes. His length makes him a difficult player to score over, and he shows flashes of being able to switch onto the perimeter, where he does a nice job making it tough for guards to turn the corner and get by him. Offensively, Robinson flashes potential when putting the ball on the deck and attacking open space. His soft hands allow him to secure passes cleanly and finish plays without breaking rhythm. He also sets solid screens that make life difficult for defenders trying to navigate around them. One of the most impressive aspects of his game is how fluidly he moves for his size. He runs the floor like a gazelle in transition and is capable of making eye-catching plays that highlight his athletic upside.     Thorpe looked like a player trending in the right direction during the two games I was able to watch. His defensive impact stood out immediately, as he showed the ability to guard on the perimeter while also using his frame to eat up space on the interior. That combination of size and mobility gives him intriguing defensive versatility and allows him to affect the game in a variety of ways. He was also effective as a screener, consistently freeing up space for teammates and helping create offensive opportunities without needing the ball in his hands. Thorpe made numerous plays with his ability to alter shots around the basket, using his length and timing to disrupt opposing offenses. While his offensive game is still developing, I appreciated the different ways he found to leave a positive imprint on the contest. Whether it was screening, defending, rebounding, or making hustle plays, he consistently contributed to winning basketball. As he continues to expand his offensive skill set, I expect Thorpe to take on a larger role on that end of the floor this upcoming season. The tools are there, and his recent performances suggest he is beginning to put everything together.     An athletic shot-blocker, he moves exceptionally well for his size and impacts the game on both ends of the floor. Defensively, he uses his length, timing, and mobility to protect the rim, consistently contesting shots and altering attempts around the basket. His versatility is another strength, as he has the ability to guard multiple positions and hold his own in a variety of defensive situations. Offensively, he did a nice job setting off-ball screens to free teammates for scoring opportunities and showed a strong understanding of how to create advantages without needing the ball in his hands. He was active on the glass, collecting second-chance opportunities and positioning himself well around the basket to keep possessions alive. I also liked the flashes he showed as a floor spacer, suggesting there is additional offensive upside to unlock as his game continues to develop. With his combination of athleticism, defensive versatility, rebounding instincts, and emerging skill set, he is a prospect who provides value in a variety of ways and has plenty of room for growth moving forward.     Bol impressed with his offensive versatility, showing the ability to impact the game both inside and on the perimeter. He scored in a variety of ways, spacing the floor as a shooter while also finding success around the basket and in the paint. Bol was able to get to different spots off the bounce, demonstrating a skill set that is uncommon for a player with his size and length. What stood out most was his feel for the game. He consistently read and reacted to what the defense gave him, making smart decisions and finding teammates with difficult passes to moving cutters. Bol stuffed the stat sheet throughout the contest, contributing in multiple facets and affecting the game well beyond just scoring. His ability to create matchup problems makes him the epitome of a mismatch nightmare, as he can punish defenders both inside and out. Defensively, Bol looked comfortable switching onto perimeter players and holding his own away from the basket, which only adds to his value in today's game. His combination of size, skill, versatility, and basketball IQ makes him an extremely intriguing prospect. If he continues to perform at this level, he should see a slew of college coaches become involved in his recruitment as programs search for players with his unique blend of tools and production.
