High Potential Prospects From Zero Gravity Live Finale

Zero Gravity's Live Finale is off and running at Dana Barros Basketball Club, and plenty of teams from the North East are in the building. I took in action from all three high school divisions. Ayantola didn't necessarily jump off the page for his Central Flight ZGXL squad, but I was really impressed with his all-around floor game and physicality for his age. The 6-foot-1 combo-guard/wing is built like a football player, but he has great feet and hands and an awesome ability to drive closeouts, keep a good line to the rim, and finish at the cup. Most intriguing is the fact that he understands how to read passing angles and is super unselfish when it comes to kick ahead and extra passes. Ayantola is going to have a hard time getting playing time for Worcester Academy this season, but the rising sophomore has a bright future and could definitely make a name for himself there in the coming years.     Blood is an intriguing young player who's only entering his freshman year of high school but already plays at the rim and is only 5-foot-10. The combo-guard is a relentless rim attacker who is equally effective with his left and right hand and isn't afraid to take contact or throw himself into the teeth of the defense. From the outside, he has the ability to get hot, but his release is unique and the rotation on his ball isn't ideal—it doesn't matter if you make it, though. Blood also defends his behind off and does an amazing job using his hands to get steals. He has so much time to improve his shot and general game, but I could see him playing spot minutes at Beaver this year, which he should be super proud of.     Morais, an unsigned senior, had quite a Saturday afternoon game for his We All Hoop squad. He scored tons of points, but he did it from all three levels and with solid composure, pace, and strength. The 6-foot-2 guard has good positional size, but he can also handle the ball well enough to get to his spots in the mid range and from the three-point line. He got hot from three and kept his team in the game, but he also distributed the ball effectively and showed off a solid ability to rebound for his size. Morais tells me he's still looking for a home next season, but he might attend community college and could be a solid player at that level.     Martins has an intriguing blend of size, strength, and skill. The 6-foot-1 combo-guard is built like a linebacker but has good feet/hands and is quite versatile as a result. He can run pick and roll as the ball-handler or screener, he can pass in the short roll or in the pocket, and he can finish at the rim against taller players. He also rebounds the ball significantly better than the average guard his size and can guard a number of guys defensively because of his strength. Martins tells me he'll be attending UMass Boston next year and will be trying to find a role on the team.     Keefe was one of the better 2027's I saw this weekend. The 6-foot-2 guard has awesome positional size and uses it to see over the defense for east spray outs and kick outs. But he also has a beautiful shot from three and is able to shoot it off the catch or the dribble—even though he missed his first few shots for Bell City, he had a great shot-making second half in his Saturday afternoon game. Keefe also took on the most difficult defensive matchup and was locked in for the entire game. He is going to see his recruitment pick up at the D3 level this season, and he also has a year to reclass if he wants.     London of Team Ready ZGXL is one of the most intriguing long-term players I saw this weekend. The 6-foot-4 wing has extremely long arms, above-the-rim athleticism, and budding ball skills. all of which he uses to physically overwhelm his opponents in transition and at the rim. He can outside shots, too, though he needs to improve the consistency of his shot. I could see London massively improving over the next couple years and developing into a real college prospect—he feels like a late bloomer who's eventually going to to figure it out.
