This 2029 class is starting to showcase a lot of talent this spring, and here are eight freshmen who had strong starts to the AAU season. He is very comfortable handling the ball, has his eyes up even under tight defense, and isn't easily rushed from any spot on the floor. He's shown off some deep range from three too, and shows a lot of tools to be a true point guard.

Bronder is a kid with a pretty mature physical makeup. He's not overly explosive at this point, but he's strong, skilled, and understands how to deploy his strengths to get good looks. Does a great job playing in traffic, whether it's creating little bumps, using pump fakes, or attacking the glass; he has the solid base to play strong and on balance.

When I watch Thomas, the things that stand out are his poise, control, and a really impressive calmness in his shots. He does it at each level too, whether it's reading ball screens on the perimeter to work for open threes, creating space in the midrange and getting on balance, or attacking the rim. He just knows where his windows are going to be and exhibits a high level of control of their offense.

Blue is a guard who has really caught my eye throughout the spring. He exhibits a natural feel with the ball, can play at different speeds, and just has an understanding of how to attack defenders in a variety of ways. He does a great job creating angles, drawing contact, and making space at the rim. He has the skills to get into space, but he also shows the intelligence to know when to attack and feel out when he has an advantage to make a play.

Mitchell is a pretty smooth operator on offense and has a smooth shot to pair with his moves. He does a good job finding space, is comfortable working from different spots, and it's shown with some big games on the UAA Circuit. His biggest scoring game was 25 points on 9-of-14 shooting, including 5-of-8 from 3-point. And he's also had some good facilitating with efficient scoring, posting games of 12 points and six assists, and 17 points and four assists.

Groth is a lefty guard who can really shoot the rock. He's a kid who gets eyes on the rim right on the catch and has a good feel for how much space he needs to get shots off, which allows him to be a real catch-and-shoot threat, even under good closeouts. He's shown he can hit shots from different levels and has the kind of touch that translates into different types of shots.

Martinez is a smaller guard at 5-foot-9, but he does a great job getting into ballhandlers defensively, moving his feet, staying in front, and playing solid defense on the perimeter. He's also shown an understanding of how to dissect different coverages off ball screens and can pick out to the short roll, and hit secondary options when help overcommits.

Wiley is a twitchy guard with big two-way ability. He shoots the three well, pressures the ball on defense, and has great eyes off the ball to bait passers and dart into passing lanes. And he plays with good pace, not just with his quickness and athleticism, but in his ability to make quick decisions, and just playing aggressively and ready to attack.
