Vegas Elite 15s Take Over 16U at Bash in the Desert

The Vegas Elite 15U team traveled down to Arizona to compete in the Prep Hoops Bash in the Desert. They saw a ton of success, going 4-0 even while playing up in the 16U division. Their roster is a great blend of prospects, and they have some real size, with three forwards/centers at least 6'7. Look for this squad to win some big-time games this summer. He protects the rim on a regular basis and had more than a few impressive blocks. He also did a great job of crashing the glass and securing rebounds. Beyond his stellar defense, he ran the floor with purpose, scoring in transition and in the half court. With play like that, he is a prospect who looks ready to keep rising in the rankings. He was the tallest player on the floor, standing at about 6'10. He is quite imposing on defense, and his wingspan allows him to alter shots with ease. I was also a fan of how he produced on offense, shooting right over defenders and putting down dunks. Expect to see his name much more often this AAU season. He is a difference-maker on defense and can pick off passes thanks to his anticipation skills. He also leverages his length to pester opponents and contest shots. On offense, he can play above the rim, and his quickness helps him elude defenders. Considering his athleticism and size, he's a 2029 who might turn some heads during the upcoming Live Periods. His speed is one of his top attributes, and he uses it to get paint touches at a high rate. He'll drive and kick if defenders close in, or get all the way to the rack when there's an opportunity. In addition to his drives, he knocked down 3s, and his mid-range jumper looked smooth. All in all, the PG played well, and I like how he stays locked in.     Jacobi Thompson II is a phenomenal athlete with legit tools to get to the next level. He gets downhill in a hurry and is a threat to take off for a monster dunk at any given moment. He also uses his touch, coordination, and toughness to convert tough finishes. As a defender, he flies around and wreaks havoc, coming up with steals and deflections. Expect him to be a prospect who picks up serious steam.     Azariah Reetz gets it done inside on both offense and defense. On offense, he overpowers his matchup, and it's difficult to slow him down. He's the type of player who gets to the free throw line frequently and scores easy buckets by catching lobs. Defensively, he clogs up the paint, and attackers have to think twice about going up with it.
