Cream City Collision: Mark's Day 2 Standouts in 16U

Spent most of Saturday in the gym watching various club teams compete in the annual Prep Hoops Cream City Collision. Here are some profiles of 16U standouts who played at OAW in New Berlin on Day 2 of the event.    A relentless competitor around the basket, Hagerstrom was exceptionally aggressive with the ball and found his way to basket after basket in the lane for the [program_tooltip program_id='2076027' first='Wisconsin' last='Blizzard'] in its victory over [program_tooltip program_id='2485560' first='G-Elite' last='']. Hagerstrom used strong footwork and excellent body positioning to score 17 points as he dominated around the basket. Hagerstrom was equally impressive on the defensive end of the floor as he constantly used his physicality and alertness to make things difficult for opponents. Hagerstrom averaged 6.0 points and 5.1 rebounds as a sophomore at Wrightstown and appears primed to be a key player for the Tigers over the next two seasons.     Finding the bottom of the net five times from three-point range, DeCleene's marksmanship from deep riddled the G-Elite squad and helped the [program_tooltip program_id='2076027' first='Wisconsin' last='Blizzard'] Ice to a 68-42 win in 16U play at the Cream City Collision in New Berlin on Saturday. DeCleene finished the game with 19 points as he also scored a basket in transition and one off the bounce for his squad. A key reserve for Reedsville's WIAA Division 5 state-title team, DeCleene's shooting ability and all-around solid play figure to be big assets for the Panthers, who must replace four starters from their 28-3 squad.     Possessing elite-level quickness and athletic bounce that is nothing short of eye-popping, Clark was outstanding for a very good MGC Elite Basketball squad in its hard-earned win over the Geek Squad out of Chicago on Saturday. Clark finished the game with 15 points, hitting a wing three while also getting to the basket and finishing over taller defenders with his impressive verticality and unending aggressiveness. Clark is a member of the Wisconsin Lutheran program that went 30-0 and won the Division 1 state title for the second year in a row -- and third crown in succession after capturing the D2 championship in 2024 -- and will contend for additional playing time with the Vikings next winter after coming off the bench as a sophomore.     A lead guard with good instincts and the ability to lead a team, Newman handled the ball well, got the ball to his teammates in good scoring positions and played strong perimeter defense for MGC Elite Basketball in its win over Geek Squad. A very capable scorer -- he had 11 points in the contest -- Newman is a pass-first point guard who figures to battle for a starting position at Wisconsin Lutheran after coming off the bench for the Vikings last season while averaging 2.4 points per game.     Part of a strong 2028 class at Pius XI Catholic that also includes [player_tooltip player_id='3077644' first='Aiah' last='Baldwin'] and [player_tooltip player_id='2487655' first='Franky' last='Simo Kamdem'], Anthony has a smooth game that includes accurate shooting from deep. A lanky wing prospect with excellent length, Anthony got to the basket and made a couple of shots from beyond the arc for MGC Elite in its win over Geek Squad. Anthony finished the game with 12 points and used his mobility to play strong defense. With some increased weight and physical strength, Anthony could develop into a key player for Pius XI Catholic over the next two seasons.     A Ricky Pierce type of scorer for MGC Elite, Clark has a nose for the basket and can put the ball through the hoop from all kinds of different spots on the floor. He is a capable shooter from deep, but is best in transition and in the half court by using his strength and skill to make mid-range jump shots. He finished the contest against the Geek Squad with 14 points while also using his toughness to defend well both near the hoop and on the perimeter. Clark played on the JV1 team at Wisconsin Lutheran as a sophomore and hopes to earn a varsity spot with the state's elite program come next fall.     Milesko had his three-point shot dropping early and then went to his off-the-dribble game for [program_tooltip program_id='2076031' first='Wisconsin' last='Hoops Select'] in a win over [program_tooltip program_id='2076501' first='Chapman' last='Basketball Academy'] South. He finished the game with 23 points and was nearly unstoppable once he got downhill on drives to the basket. Milesko used the glass well and finished everything as he utilized his size, length and skill to repeatedly score. A reserve for the varsity squad at Edgewood as a sophomore, Milesko has a chance to earn a starting spot with the Crusaders in 2026-27 with additional strength and a bit more consistency from deep with his shot.     Soper is a throwback post player who runs from the front of the rim on one end of the court to the front of the rim on the other end of the floor. He knows his role and plays it well. Soper has the physical strength and size to defend well near the basket, and he isn't afraid to get on the floor for a loose ball or use his physicality to push opponents away from the hoop. Offensively, Soper does a nice job of catching and quickly getting the ball up off the glass for interior baskets. He finished with 15 points for [program_tooltip program_id='2076031' first='Wisconsin' last='Hoops Select'] - Winsor in its triumph over [program_tooltip program_id='2076501' first='Chapman' last='Basketball Academy'] South and is coming off a strong sophomore campaign at Argyle where he earned second-team all-Six Rivers East Conference recognition.     You cannot teach size. And Doro uses his size and strength to his advantage on both ends of the floor. A rugged rebounder who moves his feet well and can defend in the lane, Doro had a somewhat limited role offensively for [program_tooltip program_id='2347629' first='Wisconsin' last='PHD'] in its win over Pro Skills Basketball out of Milwaukee. He did put in a couple of baskets, but it was his ability to exchange ends of the floor. rebound and provide all-out hustle around the basket that stood out most. He played on the JV1 team at Omro last winter, but could emerge as a very important inside piece for the Foxes once the 2026-27 season rolls around.     Arteaga had a slow start for [program_tooltip program_id='2347629' first='Wisconsin' last='PHD'] in its victory over Pro Skills Basketball, but he came alive in a big-time way in the second half, scoring the majority of his 15 points after intermission. The aggressive combination guard scored on mid-range jump shots, from three-point range and from the foul line as he put constant pressure on the opposing defense with his ability to handle the ball, get to spots with his quickness and finish with his skill. Arteaga came off the bench for Oshkosh North last winter and is hoping to contend for a bigger role with the perennially strong Spartans next season.
