The third session of the CBG I-95 Series took place at U-Turn in Richmond this past weekend, with some of the top teams coming from all over the state to bump it up and compete with each other. With 17U being the biggest division, there are plenty of players who stood out, here's a look at part one of those standouts.

MJ Montague | 6'2” CG | Team [program_tooltip program_id='2416185' first='Loaded' last='804'] Gold

Montague was one of the biggest standouts and stock risers from the event, as the 6'2” combo from Woodside really showed his ability to score the ball as well as his ability to impact the game in a lot of different ways. He's deceptively strong and did a good job getting in the lane and finishing through contact with both hands, he made shots at a high clip from deep, he showed the ability to work in isolation, and he works well off the ball to get open too.

[player_tooltip player_id='3035379' first='Trent' last='Smalling'] | 6'3” WG | Team [program_tooltip program_id='2416185' first='Loaded' last='804'] Gold

Smalling is just another straight bucket getter coming from Woodside, and he's been perhaps their most consistent scorer so far this summer, and he did it again this past weekend as they now sit at 14-0 on the season. At 6'3” with a strong frame he was able to get in the paint and bully defenders that try to stand in his way, he was very good in the midrange with pull-ups and coming off of screens, he rebounded well, and he showed a good motor as well.

[player_tooltip player_id='2624544' first='Chris' last='Lamm'] | 6'0” PG | Team [program_tooltip program_id='2416185' first='Loaded' last='804'] Gold

Lamm is the straw that stirs the drink for this 804 Gold team, as he's their tone setter on both ends of the floor as well as their heart and soul with his toughness and gritty style of play. Throughout the event he was matched up with quicker players he would beat off the bounce, bigger players that he out rebound or be more physical than, he made great reads and tough passes, and he scored it efficiently from all three levels.

[player_tooltip player_id='3275771' first='Jovin' last='Johnson'] | 6'7” PF | Team [program_tooltip program_id='2416185' first='Loaded' last='804'] Gold

Johnson is one of the more intriguing long term prospects in the Richmond area, as he's developed quite a bit from this past summer but he shows flashes of how good he can really be in the next couple of years. He's big and athletic and he thrived when he was able to get out in the open floor and get a head of steam to finish above the rim, he showed good timing and discipline defensively as a paint presence that can alter and block shots, he showed good touch, and as he continues to come along offensively he'll be a guy for college coaches to get familiar with.

[player_tooltip player_id='3540621' first='Jayden' last='Brown'] | 6'3” CG | Local Legends

Brown has emerged over the last few years as one of the top guards in the Charlottesville area, and despite Local Legends having a tough showing going 0-2 on the weekend, he showed he's a guard division one coaches should be checking out this summer on the NXT Pro Circuit. The 6'3” guard showed his bounce with some big time finishes in transition, he did a great job jumping passing lanes to turn defense into offense, he scored it efficiently from all three levels, and he really put pressure on the defense with his ability to create for himself and others.

[player_tooltip player_id='2815291' first='Justin' last='Huang'] | 6'3” PG | Local Legends

Huang is another guard in the Charlottesville area to keep an eye on this summer when he's over here and not playing for the Taiwan U18 national team, and he showed his ability to impact the game across the board at the event. He's a crafty and high IQ guard who made great decisions when he touched the paint, he showed the ability to finish over bigger defenders, he stayed in front defensively and gave ball handlers fits, and he made open shots off the catch too.
