Systemic transformations have uprooted the college basketball recruiting landscape and set the foundation for what it may become over the next decade. Recruiting opportunities for high school athletes may look different than ever before, but elite talent will always prevail. Here are 7 underclassmen who should be playing college basketball in a couple years:

Few 2028 prospects already have eight Division 1 offers, establishing Brandon as one of the top talents in his class. He has the type of athleticism that demands respect from opponents through his presence alone. That combined with his size and motor, makes him very difficult to stop when going downhill in transition. Brandon led his team to a successful showing at Midwest Mania last weekend and put the full gamut of his skillset on display. He used his long wingspan to extend his reach and finish plays around the rim once he got deep enough in the paint. He was also dominant on the boards as evident by the three offensive rebounds he collected to start the game in his squad's final matchup.

Running with Wildcat Select 3SSB last weekend, Malcolm flashed his potential as a collegiate prospect. Already a great athlete, expect his athleticism to hit another gear over the next year or so, especially since he's young for his class. Malcolm also has great instincts which could foreshadow that his evolution as an elite two-way threat is on the horizon. When you factor in his potential as a legit outside shooting threat, Malcolm enters the chat as one of those all-around players who can do whatever is needed to contribute to winning. An attribute that is highly coveted by coaches at all levels.

Playing with a Wildcat Select 16U squad that's headlined by athleticism, Chris's abilities looked freakishly elite in person. He loves to play above the rim. He jumped into the frame seemingly out of nowhere on several occasions to secure offensive rebounds and or finish plays in the paint. In addition to that, he's a solid guard who's comfortable contributing both on and off the ball. Chris's recruitment took root last fall after he collected a couple of Division 1 offers and should continue to snowball over the next two years.

Triston was an instant spark on both ends of the court in a tough 3SSB vs. EYBL showdown in the 15U division of Midwest Mania. He showcased his potential as a downhill threat, using his strong frame and crafty ball handling skills to get through traffic. Known for his ability to score, Triston proved that he could operate as a primary facilitator by setting his teammates up for success. Whether or not he finished the play himself, or if he found the open man, positive things happened with the ball in Triston's hands. All of this combined with the pride he takes in defending at a high level should kick his recruitment off sooner than later.

Qyntin is coming off of a breakout freshman school ball season during which he emerged as one of the top shooters and rebounding guards in Kentucky. Seemingly at least 6'2" now, Q's upside is through the roof especially as his ball handling and athleticism continues to evolve. Known for his catch and shoot abilities from deep, Q is more than capable of creating for himself and his teammates off the dribble. You won't see too many wasted movements, which makes him a tough cover for his age group. He showcased a little bit of everything at Spooky Nook last weekend.

Artrell has already put the state of Michigan on notice, and it won't be too long before the nation catches up. He has the prototype size that's sought after for his position at the collegiate level with the skills to match. Essentially, he's liable to score from anywhere on the court. He loves to play off the dribble and doesn't need much space to get his shots off when doing so. He used his strength and large frame to get to his spots and rise over smaller defenders or finish through contact all weekend at Midwest Mania. Artrell has the potential to be one of the top recruits in his class once it's all said and done.

On a loaded Bates Fundamentals team, Roe seemed to be the engine. He remained in constant attack mode on the court and always looked to take advantage of his opponent. His ability to create fast break opportunities and finish through contact was on display all weekend. He thrived as one of the best two-way players on the court and used his impact on defense to jumpstart his offensive momentum on several occasions. Don't let his defensive effort distract you though – Roe is a legit threat with the ball in his hands in the half court and has a deep package of acrobatic finishing skills. His all-around game style broke down defenses in several different ways.
