Local Standouts from The Warmup - Memphis

The Warmup put on by Made Hoops in Memphis was loaded with talent across the board. The event featured matchups across shoe circuits that you normally would not see very much of. Teams from all over the Southeast came to play, but I focused on the local teams and players from the Memphis area and its surroundings. Here are the big-time standouts that really stood out over the weekend.    Undoubtedly, the emotional and vocal leader of this year's [program_tooltip program_id='2078772' first='Team' last='Thad'] EYBL 17U squad, Dylan, showed why he is one of the top players in the class of 2027. High-level athlete and can do everything really well. He can handle the ball, finish at the rim with authority, shoot the ball well, rebound, and defend multiple positions. Look for him to have a big time summer coming off a state title at Bartlett this year.     The floor general for the [program_tooltip program_id='2078772' first='Team' last='Thad'] EYBL 17U team this year. He plays with great pace and control, but is not afraid to show off his explosiveness. The lefty PG showed why he is one of the best around by getting to the rim with quickness and fearlessness. He pressured the ball defensively and controlled everything offensively. Excited to see him continue to grow and establish his place as the top in the state at PG.     If you don't know his name by now, you will very soon. DJ just won a state title at Bartlett and is looking for more with the Alabama Fusion EYBL over the summer. The class of 2028 star showed why he is at the top of his class, both in his state and nationally. His athleticism was on display from start to finish, dunking ferociously anytime he was around the rim. He used his length on the defensive end, pressuring the ball, contesting shots at the rim, getting out in passing lanes, and rebounding at a high level. He is a force to be reckoned with and will be for a while.     Another key piece of the state title team for Bartlett, Braylon, is showing why as the PG for the Alabama Fusion EYBL team this summer. He plays at his own pace and makes sure everybody else does too. Handles the ball very well and runs the pick-and-roll at a very high level. His change of pace keeps defenses off balance, and he sees the floor very well. He showed off his shooting touch, knocking down multiple 3's and pressured the ball on defense as well. Look for a big summer from Braylon on the EYBL circuit.     Josh is a beast. There is no other way to put it. He is strong and physical, but also very skilled. He can score at the rim, get to his spot in the midrange, and shoot it from deep. His offensive game continues to impress with his ability to handle the ball well and his ability to be a good passer. He is a force in the post and rebounds at a high level. Look for him to have a big summer and use the momentum from his state title at Briarcrest to continue to grow.     Erick is a beast. He showed why he is one of the best, if not the best, big man in the country for the class of 2028. Not only is he physically dominant, but he is also very athletic. He almost broke the rim every time he dunked it, and if he wasn't blocking shots, he was altering, contesting, or making the shooter think twice. His touch and footwork around the rim were very impressive. The lefty big man still has room to grow, which is terrifying for everybody else.     TJ Byrd had a great weekend with [program_tooltip program_id='2078772' first='Team' last='Thad'] EYBL 17U. He displayed his athletic ability on the offensive end, getting to the rim and finishing at a high level. His length was on display at the defensive end, rebounding and blocking shots. He has a good handle and plays with great energy. This summer should do great things for his development and help his stock rise.     Now playing for Hoop City P32 17U by way of Principia in Missouri, Colton really made a statement this weekend. The class of 2027 guard really showcased offensively all weekend. He played with great control and pace and handled the ball at a high level. And this kid can really score. Finish at the rim, pull up in midrange, off 2 feet in the paint, behind the arc. You name it, he can do it. He is also a really good on-ball defender. The P32 circuit needs to be ready for Colton because he's coming.
