State Tournament Preview: Class 2A Stars to Watch

Waller is one of the most explosive scorers in the state, averaging 21.1 points, 8.6 rebounds, 3.9 assists, and 2.0 steals per game on 48-35-77 shooting splits. Since he returned to the Falcons lineup from injury, they've taken off. He has really improved this season as a playmaker and shot creator for his teammates. He's always been a gifted scoring threat, but he has added the shot creating aspect to his game this season and really improved as an all-around player.     Wedeking has emerged as a really good secondary scoring threat for the Falcons alongside Waller this season, averaging 15.6 points, 3.0 assists, and 2.2 steals per game while shooting over 38% from the 3-point line.     A sophomore guard who can take over games in the blink of an eye with his ability to play downhill and create quality looks for himself and his teammates, Moret has averaging 19.3 points, 6.9 rebounds, 3.6 assists, and 2.1 steals per game for the Wolfpack. He leads the team in rebounding, assists, and steals per game, and is tied for the team lead in points per game. He's an intelligent, tough guard with great footwork, athleticism, and physicality.     De Stigter has battled injuries all year and been in-and-out of the lineup, but when he's been on the floor he has been extremely productive for the Wolfpack, averaging 19.3 points, 6.6 rebounds, 2.0 assists, and 1.1 steals on 52-36-70 shooting splits. With his size at 6-4/6-5, he can shoot over most defenders, and his length is a major asset on the defensive end.     Bosma and his Unity Christian teammates have become regulars at the state tournament, making their third trip in a row. He's a tough, athletic guard who can score from all three levels as well as create for his teammates at a high level. He leads the Knights in scoring (18.3), assists (3.9), and steals (2.1), and has been really efficient, posting 48-41-88 shooting splits. He can control games on both ends of the floor with his athleticism, intelligence, and talent.     Van Donge has become a dominant two-way player for the Knights in his junior year, adding ball-handling and perimeter shooting to his already extensive arsenal of weapons. At 6-4, he's now capable of pulling down a rebound and leading the break, as he did to send their district final game into overtime. He has really improved as a passer (3.4 assists per game) and 3-point shooting threat (46.0%), turning himself into a three-level scorer. He's averaging 14.2 points, 8.9 rebounds, and 1.7 steals per game.     After spending the last few years as a really good role player for the Spartans, Jirovsky stepped into a starring role as a senior and has thrived. The 6-0 guard is averaging 15.7 points, 4.0 rebounds, 6.3 assists, and 4.0 steals per game on 52-36-77 shooting splits. He's a tough, intelligent guard who can control games as a scorer, playmaker, or defender.     Clair is one of the most dominant players in 2A, averaging 16.7 points, 7.3 rebounds, 2.0 assists, 1.8 steals, and 1.3 blocks, and those numbers would be even more impressive if: a. Kuemper wasn't so loaded with talent and b. They didn't play in so many blowouts. He has great hands and footwork, soft touch around the rim, and he can step out and stretch the floor with a smooth stroke from deep.     Schon is a really skilled shot creator and shotmaker who can score in bunches. He shoots it really well both on-and-off-platform, and isn't deterred by contested shots. He's a highly confident player who can do a little bit of everything for the Knights on both ends of the floor. He's averaging 13.8 points, 6.4 rebounds, 3.1 assists, and 2.3 steals per game on 60% shooting.     Another really skilled guard oozing with confidence for the Knights, Glynn averages 15.1 points and 2.4 assists on 52-43-70 shooting splits. Like Schon, he's a skilled shotmaker who can shoot over defenders, and he has really good footwork and handles to help create extra space to get his shot off.     A bouncy, physical 6-5 forward who is one of three dominant big men for the Regals, Litton is averaging 12.9 points, 6.3 rebounds, 2.6 assists, and 1.6 steals per game on 53% shooting. He doesn't shy away from contact around the bucket and has the size, athleticism, and IQ to defend multiple positions.     Wallace leads the Regals in scoring at 16.6 points per game to go with 5.9 rebounds, 2.0 assists, and 1.4 steals. He's a highly efficient scorer, shooting 66% from the floor, knowing where he excels and sticking to it. He has been a dominant force on the offensive glass, averaging nearly 4 offensive rebounds per game.     Lovely is one of the most talented guards in 2A, a confident ball-handler and shot creator who leads the Cardinals in scoring (17.4), assists (4.7), and steals (2.0) on 43-36-75 shooting splits. He has the ball on a string and can blow by just about any perimeter defender.     The Knights lost their leading scorer, [player_tooltip player_id='1726227' first='Caden' last='Sorensen'], to a broken leg, but still made their way through a tricky district and substate bracket to reach the state tournament. Van Dyke is a big reason why. The interior presence for the Knights, he's averaging 12.7 points, 9.3 rebounds, and 2.6 assists per game on 52% shooting. A 6-4 forward who sees the floor well out of the post, the offense can flow through him.
