Sectional 8: Tuesday Night Standouts

The first round of Sectional 8 took place on Tuesday night and Prep Hoops Indiana was in attendance to witness the action. The results saw Noblesville defeat Zionsville and HSE defeating Noblesville in two very competitive games. Let's take a look some standout players from Tuesday night.    Although his team came away with the loss to Noblesville, [player_tooltip player_id='2140338' first='Camden' last='Moore'] might have been the most impressive player that I was able to watch on Tuesday night during the first round of Sectional 8. A long wing, Moore put the Eagles on his back during a rock fight of a game scorning at all levels and always keeping Zionsville in the game. He may be a big time baseball prospect, but Moore can get it done on the hardwood, as well. He finished with a team-high 19 points.     In many ways last night, [player_tooltip player_id='1561054' first='Baron' last='Walker'] proved why he is a Butler signee and Indiana All-Star contender. The Noblesville-Zionsville game was not the prettiest by any means, but the play of Walker was truly awesome to watch. Like Moore did with Zionsville, Walker put Noblesville on his back being that true playmaker that the Millers needed in order to protect homecourt vs the Eagles. He had a game-high 21 points.     Haffner was one of the top stars in the first round of Sectional 8 with his team coming up just short vs Hamilton Southeastern. Being the high-volume scorer that Haffner is, it was a little surprising to see him have such a quiet first half however, you knew that would not last the whole game. Haffner, in many ways, took over in the second half for Westfield hitting big time shots and finding his rhythm. He finished his high school career with 17 points for the Shamrocks.     I think there is no argument that this senior guard was the most steady player for Westfield in their losing effort to Hamilton Southeastern on Tuesday night. [player_tooltip player_id='1989377' first='Brock' last='Detamore'] finished with a team high 18 points and played a high motor once again on both ends of the floor. He seemed like he was always there to make a play for Westfield even when it felt like HSE was going to pull away early. This was a great showing in his final high school game.     There was not a player that was as clutch as what HSE senior small forward [player_tooltip player_id='2472620' first='Landon' last='Osswald'] was on Tuesday night during the first round of Sectional 8. Finishing with a game-high 23 points, Osswald hit big shot after big shot, especially from the perimeter. Really liked how pressure-free Osswald played for HSE on Tuesday as it just felt like he was ready for anything that came his way. HSE will need another big time performance like this from him vs Fishers on Friday.     Based off what I saw last night, I am ready to say that [player_tooltip player_id='2559521' first='Varschon' last='Clark'] has some of the highest potential out of any sophomore in the state of Indiana. He finished with 18 points for HSE in their thrilling win vs Westfield. Along with how dynamic he was as a scorer, it was just the energy that he brought on both ends the floor that really stood out. Another strong showing on Friday could give HSE a legit chance vs Fishers.     When it came to setting a tone for HSE-Westfield game, that person that did that was senior forward [player_tooltip player_id='1561009' first='Luke' last='Weemer']. He started the game exploding for 10 first half points making tough buckets 15ft and in. The second half his scoring kind of slowed down but it allowed for guys like Clark and Osswald to find their rhythm, which ultimately got them the win. Weemer finished with 12 points for HSE.
