Region 8: Standout Seasons from the Perimeter

No matter the position, role, or volume of three-point attempts, this isn't a list limited to pure shooters. Instead, it highlights players who consistently pose a threat from behind the arc and are putting together strong seasons shooting it from deep. For some, the three-point shot is a primary weapon; for others, it's a second or third option within the flow of the offense. Either way, their production from downtown has made an impact. Here's a look at some of the most impressive perimeter seasons in the Eighth Region:    [player_tooltip player_id='2359181' first='Nico' last='Ballard'] finished the season averaging 3.9 three-pointers per game, ranking him in the top 10 in the state. He connected on 113 of 247 attempts from deep, shooting an impressive 45.7%, and his made threes led the region. Ballard moved exceptionally well without the ball, creating open space and getting his shot off quickly. He got hot early in the season, dropping nine threes in the opener, repeating the feat in the next game, and following it up with seven more against Ryle.     Harper Duvall finished the season averaging 2.9 three-pointers per game, ranking among the top 35 in the state. He shot 35.8% from deep, going 78-for-218 on the year. One of his top performances came in January against Augusta when he went 6-for-9 from beyond the arc. He also had several games with five made threes. Duvall thrives in catch-and-shoot situations and moves well without the ball, often coming to meet passes rather than waiting for them.     [player_tooltip player_id='1543627' first='Samuel' last='Seawright'] suffered an injury that has kept him out, but in 23 games he averaged 2.7 three-pointers per game, which would rank among the top 50 in the state. He went 61-for-160 from deep, shooting 38.1%. Seawright is a high-level shooter with deep range and the confidence to fire from anywhere on the floor. One of his standout performances came early in the season against Oldham County when he went 6-for-10 from beyond the arc.     Not counting the final two games of his season, [player_tooltip player_id='2455854' first='Xadrian' last='Johnson'] made 80 of 229 attempts from deep, shooting 34.9%. His three-pointers per game average of three ranks him among the top 30 in the state. Johnson is a confident shooter who uses his handles and quickness to create space and get his shot off quickly. He's a tough shot maker capable of pull-ups, off-balance shots, stepbacks, and scoring with defenders closing in, and he also possesses deep range from beyond the arc.     With his final two games of the season not included, Adam Gutman finished the year averaging 3.1 three-pointers per game, ranking among the top 20 in the state. He shot an efficient 45.3% from deep, making 97 of his 214 attempts. His season high for threes came against Eminence on Jan. 8, when he drilled seven in the game. Gutman shows strong shot selection and has deep range as part of his offensive arsenal.     Malakye Bowen averaged 2.8 three-pointers per game this season, ranking among the top 40 in the state. He finished the year 72-for-200 from beyond the arc, shooting 36%. He's had several top performances from long range came including a game against Bardstown in January when he went 5-for-7 from deep. He also had another five-three-pointer game against Grant County earlier in the month and knocked down six threes in a 6-for-9 shooting performance against CAL on Feb. 9.     Will Scobee finished the season averaging 3.4 three-pointers per game, ranking among the top 15 in the state. He shot 42.1% from deep, going 91-for-216 on the year. Scobee had four games with seven made threes, coming against Lawrence County, Grant County, Holy Cross (Covington) and Campbell County, with the last three occurring in January. He has deep range and the ability to knock down contested shots, and he's also capable of hitting momentum-swinging threes in key moments.
