Prep Hoops Indiana: Sectional 8 Round 1 X-Factors

Each and every year, the most anticipated Sectional that takes place in the state of Indiana is Sectional 8 featuring schools such as Carmel, Westfield, Zionsville, Fishers, Hamilton Southeastern, and Noblesville. This year, Noblesville will be the host and the anticipation is a high as ever. The main reason for this year's hype is that undefeated Fishers will be looking to run the gauntlet once again and get yet another Sectional title. I, <a href="https://x.com/kylerstaley">Kyler Staley</a>, will be in attendance for Tuesday for the first round matchups between Zionsville/Noblesville and Westfield/Hamilton to provide top notch coverage. Below is a four x-factors from each team for Tuesday night's matchups.    Out of all the teams in Sectional 8, Zionsville may be the one true wildcard here in this group with them being a younger team but having guys capable of leading them to big wins. A junior wing that is starting to make a name for himself for the Eagles is [player_tooltip player_id='2807774' first='Nick' last='Snively'], who brings in 6.0 ppg and 4.0 rpg. A long wing at 6'4, Snively is a high IQ player that plays really hard and can make impacts on both ends of the floor. He has had a strong season that will carry over into Sectionals, the summer, and his senior year.     One of the best under-the-radar players we have in the state of Indiana is Noblesville senior wing [player_tooltip player_id='1561049' first='Max' last='Flanagan']. Ever since Justin Curry went down, senior guard [player_tooltip player_id='1561054' first='Baron' last='Walker'] was in need of someone to step up around him and Flanagan was tasked as one of those guys. He will come into Sectional 8 averaging over 10.0 ppg and is just someone that we have seen be capable of getting hot from behind the arc a lot. If he gets into a rhythm early vs Zionsville, the Millers could very well be looking at Carmel on Friday.     One of the toughest guards that you will find in the Indiana class of 2026 is Westfield's [player_tooltip player_id='1989377' first='Brock' last='Detamore']. While Westfield had [player_tooltip player_id='1988138' first='Drew' last='Haffner'] being that reelable scoring threat and Luke Vadegriff being that force in the post, Detamore is that steady glue guy that can make plays on both ends of the floor. Coming into Sectional 8 averaging 11.9 points per game, Detamore is a guard that plays with a high motor and is aggressive on both ends of the floor. If teams somehow manage to slow down Haffner and Vandegriff, Detamore is a guy that is capable of stepping up in a major ways.     It feels like in many ways Hamilton Southeastern may be one of the few sleeper teams in Sectional 8 with some really good experienced players on their roster. One of their top underclassman that also feels like a X-Factor of a player is senior shooting guard [player_tooltip player_id='2398989' first='Maverick' last='Young']. The 6'0 guard will come into their first round matchup vs Westfield averaging 7.8 points and is capable of putting together a big game for the Royals. He is a quick guard that has a strong first step that beats the defender off the dribble nearly every time.
