1. Flowers

Class 4A

Nobody else but to start with the Jaguars here, who have strung together a perfect 21-0 record along with a PG County title heading into a tough Class 4A field. They're fueled by 4A PG County Player of the Year in 2027 [player_tooltip player_id='2639998' first='Brandon' last='Brooks'], who poses as a massive mismatch issue in the public school sector with his 6-foot-7 frame. Brooks averaged a dominant double-double of 25 points and 11 rebounds per game. Others such as 2026 Presley Atem, 2027 Macaedan Schooler and 2029 [player_tooltip player_id='2975309' first='Braylon' last='Brooks'] have all been critical to their undefeated season thus far. It'll remain that way through state tourney play. Flowers will face Duval before setting up a potential matchup between the winner of Wise/Bladensburg in the regional final Wednesday.

2. Largo

Class 3A

There are a few teams that could make an argument for the second slot, but the history has to side with the Lions. The back-to-back state champions of the 2A class move up to 3A ,where there's a significant bump in overall competition. It's impossible to replace the void left behind by the Maryland Player of the Year Cam Ward (Michigan State), but the committee of 2026 [player_tooltip player_id='2453724' first='Jalen' last='Johnson'], 2027 [player_tooltip player_id='2571854' first='Ayden' last='Ashe'], 2029 Toby Echebi and others have done enough to finish with a 17-4 overall record. From a talent perspective, the Lions should fare just fine against anyone they matchup against, but it won't be easy after a dismantling of Chopticon in the first round as they'll face Potomac in the regional semifinal game. If they get by Potomac, it would set up a contest against Great Mills, who has been the best team throughout the year in the SMAC.

3. Potomac

Class 3A

Speaking of Potomac, the Wolverines have put together a resume of impressive wins en route to a 16-6 record. PG County 1A/2A/3A Coach of the Year Anthony Ridley has a backcourt duo of 2026 [player_tooltip player_id='2874882' first='Casey' last='Dyches'] and 2026 Jon Gray that have proven to be one of the better tandems in the county and will be key in making a run in a tough region as mentioned above in Largo's write-up. The Wolverines head into their game against Largo riding a 5-game winning streak and will look to continue that theme in order to earn a slot in the regional final.

4. CMIT North

Class 1A

The Tigers have a bit of an easier path to the regional final and beyond if they have a good draw going into Elite 8 play. Their strength is in their senior cast of players starting with 2026 [player_tooltip player_id='2722714' first='Amir' last='Morton'] at the combo guard position. Others such as Antonio Waddy, Joshua Owolabi, [player_tooltip player_id='3276092' first='Khalil' last='Bah'], [player_tooltip player_id='3276063' first='Cole' last='Williams'] and Mason Brooks makeup the attack for a roster comprised of experience and the type that typically withstands the adversity that comes with state tournament play.

5. Fairmont Heights

Class 2A

The Hornets boast a 17-5 overall record and with Largo making the jump to 3A, it eliminates a potential obstacle in their pursuit of a regional championship and beyond. Similar to many of these contenders, Fairmont Heights relies on the production of seniors. 2026 guard [player_tooltip player_id='3276080' first='Mekhi' last='Mason'] and 2026 wing [player_tooltip player_id='2844593' first='Khalil' last='Moore'] are the make them go and will be vital if they plan on making a splash when reseeding occurs heading into Elite 8 play.
