Each rankings update brings a new wave of names into the spotlight, and this cycle was no different for South Carolina's 2028 class. A number of prospects made strong cases to crack the Top 100, using their production, growth, and long-term upside to separate themselves from the pack. This group of newcomers has started to turn heads across the state and looks poised to keep climbing as their development continues.

The highest-ranked new addition to the Prep Hoops South Carolina Class of 2028 Rankings is [player_tooltip player_id='2691559' first='Treivan' last='Wright']. Wright has been on our radar for a while now, playing in SCISA with Augusta Christian and for in-state AAU Program [program_tooltip program_id='2413030' first='Middleton' last='Hoops Elite']. However, now getting to see him with North Augusta for a full season, there is a much better feel for where he should be. Treivan was one of the most productive bench players in the state because he could not only come in and provide a spark with shooting, but he could also take over some playmaking responsibilities. Wright will have a much bigger role next year for the Yellow Jackets, but don't expect any dip in team success because he is a proven winner.

Quamell is one of the highest-ranked multi-sport athletes in his class. He is an elite athlete, also competing in football and track and field. I first got to see Grant on the hardwood in December, and he was very impressive with 27 points on 9-14 FG. Grant frequently used his physical gifts to get downhill, but he also effectively hit tough jumpers off the dribble. Although he looks like he is going to be a big football recruit, don't sleep on the basketball skills of Quamell.

Northwestern's big man is one of the most intriguing additions to the Spring Rankings Update. The Trojans have an excellent crop of freshmen, but Kenon's interior presence could be the difference between them winning sooner rather than later. Jonah is very active in the paint on both ends of the floor, as he works to earn extra possessions on the offensive glass, prevent them on the defensive glass, and protect the rim. When you combine his activity with a long, 6'6" frame, it's easy to see the potential with Jonah.

Another Rock Hill-area sophomore who has some size and skill to note is Dupree. He was one of several productive, 6'5"+ players for the Stallions. Despite averaging only 6.9 points per game, he was the team's second leading scorer and was an important piece on the offensive end. He helped propel them to the 4A State Championship, excelling with scoring in the post, shot-blocking, and a little glimpse of a sound jumper from 15 feet and beyond. If Christian takes this momentum into the AAU season, he could come back as one of the better bigs in 4A next season.

[player_tooltip player_id='3073568' first='London' last='Crawford'] might be slightly undersized compared to some of the forwards in front of him, but he was just as, if not more productive, this season. He went for over 8.5 points per game and 7.5 rebounds per game in 2025-26, showcasing some excellent bounce around the rim. He is by far the main returning producer for the Eagles next year, but he's also a standout football prospect with his excellent size and athleticism.

Like Crawford, I got to see Purdy this season at the Lakelands FCA Holiday Tournament. He was dominant throughout the tournament, including a monster 16-point, 21-rebound performance against Ware Shoals on the final day. Although that was by far his best game of the year, Ja'Keivius was a consistent player throughout the year, often using his big frame to wear down smaller defensive matchups on the wing.

It took him a little bit of time to find his role with a new team, but once he did, Carmello was an important player for the Gamecocks. He is also one they are very high on going forward, particularly with a lot of their depth returning next year. Burch is confident and creative in attacking the rim, plus he has a clean jumper off the catch from the mid-range and behind the arc.

Although he still has plenty of room for growth before he hits his ceiling, Morris had some key moments in a deep playoff run for the Bears in 2025-26. He averaged over 9 points per game with 35 makes from three, but he still feels like a guy who could have another big jump as he increases in experience and confidence. Ethan has some decent size for his position, allowing him to shoot over defenders on the perimeter or play through contact on drives.

Lockard was one of the best shooters in SCISA this season, including a 15-point, 4-made three game in the Class 2A State Championship.
Like a couple of other players in this list, Bell is a two-sport standout at his school.
Speaking of 1A offensive talents, that's exactly what Braylon is. He put up over 25 points per game in 2025-26, earning All-State honors in the state's smallest classification. Patterson is great with the ball in his hands, frequently creating shots off the dribble for himself and others. However, I would still love to see him in person this summer with Calhoun Falls or Countyline Elite.
