What prospects should you get to know for the Class A basketball teams that will be at the State Tournament? We break it down now!

2026

[player_tooltip player_id='1560810' first='Daulton' last='Bauer'] of JWP (5'10). The high motor sports car of his team getting steals, handles the ball, pushing the pace and getting his 20 points a contest. Bauer excels as an outstanding defender but he scores all over for his team. A D3 prospect of quality.

Will Gieske of Red Lake County (6'1). Will is one of the most aggressive defenders in the state. He is a team leader, a really good shooter, and he can play both guard spots. The second leading scorer for RLC and the type of player that a team rallies behind.

[player_tooltip player_id='1560883' first='Ethan' last='Richter'] of Liberty Classical (6'2). Ethan is scoring 20.6 points per game and everything he does is all out effort. Type of player you love to coach because he gives his team everything he has which limits him to nothing on the floor.

[player_tooltip player_id='2842383' first='Sam' last='Rupnow'] of Liberty Classical (6'3). Sam is a strong, strong guard/wing that uses both that strength and agility to score his 29 points a game. Rupnow has the strength to battle against bigger players but at the same time he has the bounce to get to the rim and he is a 40 percent plus three point shooter.

2027

[player_tooltip player_id='2126128' first='Isaiah' last='Asuma'] of Cherry (6'2). Isaiah's time is now. Last 16u season he separated himself as a player that most others in his grade weren't able to and now he is bigger, stronger, and ready for a potential division one run. There are not many players, especially guards, that are going to get a D1 chance but I think Isaiah has the skills, the size, the IQ and the agility to be a low major division one lead guard after high school.

[player_tooltip player_id='2824353' first='Tate' last='Goergen'] of Southland (6'2). I often describe Tate as the Class A version of [player_tooltip player_id='2118495' first='Talan' last='Witt'] because Tate is a 6'2 attacking player that is very athletic. Goergen is a combo guard averaging 22 points, 6.3 rebounds and 9.3 assists per game and has an outside shot at being a player D2 schools look at this 17u season.

[player_tooltip player_id='2441789' first='Samuel' last='Laliberte'] of Upsala (6'2). The 6'2 guard is the best all around player for Upsala and the figure head behind a team that plays TEN guys and they all contribute in a balanced way. Samuel hit the late foul shots that put Nevis away from the first time in six section title games and his all around play is the perfect example of what this team should be.

Ethan Schammel of Southland (6'5). This is a player that has really come out of nowhere in terms of going from a deep bench sophomore to a junior averaging 14 points, eight rebounds and a couple blocks a game. Has given his team a paint option and presence.

Zach Wiederich of Henning (6'0). Zach has really emerged this season to join Kale and Ryan Despard as consistent, regular double figures scorers. Zach scores 13 points a game and is the key piece going into the future for Henning. Wiederich is a really good three point shooter and just hit five threes in the Breckenridge win.

Henry Wiste of Southland (6'3). This is your swiss army knife type player that scored 20 a game, battles for a dozen boards a night, and dishes out 5-6 assists a contest. Smart player that brings a lot of versatility to his team, could be a D3 player.

2028

[player_tooltip player_id='2386616' first='Gavin' last='Bauer'] of JWP (6'3). I think Gavin has a chance to be a scholarship player at the D2 level that many schools will go after. He is a very good athlete that can defend at a high level, but he also has a scoring feel, and scoring determination that is at a higher level. He is somewhat like [player_tooltip player_id='2126464' first='Gavyn' last='Lorenson'] at Lake City who is right now becoming a top D2 recruit. Bauer is a good shooter too which makes him even more versatile.

Ben Guillingsrud of Red Lake County (5'11). Coach Steve Philion has won 723 games and the player that will help him win games past that 725 number will be Ben. The Rebels graduate a lot of talent this year but Ben has been a three year varsity player with two years to go. He is a shooting guard that scores 13 a game.

[player_tooltip player_id='2840083' first='Brodie' last='Metzger'] of Hills-Beaver Creek (6'4). Brodie is a very athletic 200 pound football prospect that I can see playing college football but he's already a two time all league hooper with two years to go! Brodie is a good athlete that can shoot it, but he's had high major football programs at his school.

Signed

[player_tooltip player_id='1601068' first='Noah' last='Asuma'] of Cherry (Minnesota Baseball)

[player_tooltip player_id='2398619' first='Micah' last='Bush'] of Hills-Beaver Creek (South Dakota State football)

[player_tooltip player_id='1628768' first='Connor' last='Duden'] of Red Lake County (Bemidji State)

[player_tooltip player_id='2400265' first='Jamin' last='Metzger'] of Hills-Beaver Creel (Sioux Falls football)

[player_tooltip player_id='1560827' first='Kale' last='Misegades'] of Henning (Southwest MN State)
