The Southland three sport star is an explosive hooper that led his team to state for the first time ever. With a ton of players coming back and Tate having a great off-season, we expect big things from the Rebels once again. Preseason ranked second in state.

Tate Goergen Tate Goergen 6'0" | PG Southland | 2027 State MN is another player that I really think has moved under the radar in this state. We do have to keep in mind, there is only so much room for lead guards that are 6’1 and under at the scholarship level, but teams need guards and Tate could be one of them. Part of the reason he was a part time 17u guy is because he’s an elite track and field standout and he can go to college and do that, which is well respected. But this is the Class A version of Talan Witt to me and I think his explosive finishing and track athletic status show that.

Tate averaged 22 points, six assists, and four steals per game during the 2025–2026 season, leading the Rebels to a 29-3 record and their first ever state tournament appearance in school history. Tate was also the blonde haired guard standout at MBCA that led his team over one of the top teams.

Tate Goergen Tate Goergen 6'0" | PG Southland | 2027 State MN ( MN Lightning ) had an outstanding performance and proved to be a true game-changer with his effort on both ends of the floor. He consistently extended possessions with strong offensive rebounding and was disruptive defensively, jumping passing lanes and creating opportunities. Goergen excelled in transition, using his speed to push the break and make the right read—whether it was finishing at the rim or delivering the extra pass to set up a teammate for a quality look.
