The Sweet 16 brought exactly what you'd expect from an 8 vs. 9 matchup toughness, grit and a game that was full of stars. #9 Pueblo South and #8 Lewis-Palmer went toe to toe in a physical, high stakes battle with a trip to the Great 8 and The Coliseum hanging in the balance. In the end, Lewis-Palmer made the key plays down the stretch, closing it out for a 57-48 win and punching their ticket to the next round. This one was shaped by individual performances from momentum swinging buckets, defensive stops and players who refused to let the moment get too big. Here are the names that powered their teams and left their mark on a Sweet 16 showdown.

Lewis-Palmer

Lowe was the engine all night, setting the tone with his speed, strength and control. He poured in 13 hard earned points, relentlessly attacking the basket and finishing through contact time after time. He played downhill and was never out of control but smooth, poised and powerful. When momentum started to shift, he silenced it. His three pointer just before the halftime buzzer was a backbreaker, sending the Rangers into the locker room with a jolt of energy and the crowd buzzing. Every time a comeback started brewing, Lowe had the answer, steadying the group with confident plays and refusing to let the lead slip in a gritty, statement win

Edgin played with a fearless edge that instantly energized his team the moment he stepped on the floor. He understands spacing, got to his spots with purpose and never hesitated when an opening appears. His quick release made him a constant threat from the perimeter, and his decisive movement kept defenders off balance. In this one, he poured in 10 points, but his impact went beyond the numbers. Every shot he took felt confident, and every possession he was part of had pace and intention, giving his team a much needed spark

Darnell was the ultimate glue guy who's scrappy presence impacted the game in ways that won't show up in the box score but absolutely show up on the scoreboard. He did the dirty work, dove into traffic and never took a possession off. His motor was constant, especially on the offensive glass where he hunted down rebounds and extended possessions that turned into crucial points. He finished with just 4 points, but that hardly tells the story. It was his hustle, physicality and relentless effort that shifted momentum and earned him attention. Darnell's value isn't measured in numbers but it's felt in every extra opportunity he creates for his team

Pueblo South

Salazar played with toughness and grit, constantly willing his team to stay within striking distance. He may have finished with just 4 points, but his impact was felt in the moments that don't always grab headlines. Defensively he was outstanding, from stepping in to take charges, cutting off driving lanes and playing with a disciplined physicality that set the tone. He battled on the glass, rising up for key rebounds and refusing to give an inch. Every hustle play seemed to spark his teammates and frustrate the opposition. Salazar didn't just compete, he imposed his will, doing whatever it took to keep his team in the fight

Norris is a definitely a player, and as a freshman his future is incredibly bright. He came off the bench in the second quarter and immediately made his presence felt, pouring in 11 points and shifting the energy of the game. There's no hesitation in his approach. He's quick with the ball, owns tight handles and consistently beat defenders to their spots. Once he turned the corner, he got to the rim in a flash. When defenders sagged off, he made them pay with a smooth, confident stroke from beyond the arc. For a freshman to play that poised and explosive says everything about what's ahead
