2A Semi/Final/Copper Guard Standouts

<!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>On Thursday and Saturday I watched the semi finals and finals of the 2A bracket and the Copper Final. <strong>NVCA </strong>defeated <strong>SCA 66-48</strong> in the final-4, <strong>Pima </strong>defeated <strong>NVCA 40-29</strong> in the 2A final and finally <strong>San Tan Charter</strong> defeated <strong>Valley Christian 53-43</strong> in the Copper Chip.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:heading --> <h2 class="wp-block-heading">Here were the Guard Standouts </h2> <!-- /wp:heading --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>All the stats are official. </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='3530532' first='Keegan' last='Corona'] Pima&nbsp;(Pictured)</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>A pure point guard who can score. He is a little undersized but guides his defensive team with up the court passes and had multiple needle threaders. He will also score with threes, mid-range jumpers and he is quick in the passing lanes. He scored 16 points 3 assists and 2 steals. <strong>&nbsp;</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='1676630' first='Kristo' last='Jackson'] San Tan Charter&nbsp;&nbsp;</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>The <strong>MVP </strong>of the Copper Championship went to Jackson. He had the task of slowing down some of the top guards on Valley Christian but also managed to score it. He shot the ball well from the three point line and from mid-range and will always get to the paint and will use the floater. He scored 15 points with 6 rebounds.&nbsp;</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='2766915' first='Hudson' last='Novak'] Scottsdale Christian Academy&nbsp;</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>One of the top shooters in the sophomore class and maybe one of the best in the state. The ball comes off his hands in a blink of an eye and he comes with some serious range. The combo guard can make plays for his teammates but scores it so easily with his sweet jumper from mid to the three. He finished with a team high 21 points.&nbsp;</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='1986796' first='Peyton' last='Lubash'] San Tan Charter&nbsp;</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>A scoring point guard started slowly but like always finds ways to put points on the board. He comes with deep range from the three point line and has a polished floater game. He puts a lot of pressure on the defense and gets to the FT line often. They went box and 1 on him but still put up 12 points in a low scoring game.&nbsp;&nbsp;</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='2559538' first='Notorious' last='Street'] San Tan Charter&nbsp;</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>A defensive point guard who is a tough ball handler and very good on-ball defender. He rebounds well for position and will score with the three off the catch and often attacks towards to the basket with his next level speed. He scored 5 points with 2 steals 2 assists and 4 rebounds.&nbsp;&nbsp;</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='2733555' first='Noah' last='Corrigan'] North Valley Christian Academy</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>A highly skilled guard who can score it from all levels. He will burst to the basket but has skill to shoot it from mid to the three point line. He scored 11 points in the Final-4 win and only 1 point in their loss.&nbsp;</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='3529252' first='Brayden' last='Schmidt'] North Valley Christian Academy&nbsp;</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>A lefty scoring combo guard will fill it up with threes off the catch, mid-range pull-ups and driving layups plus rebounds well with his stronger frame. He scored 14 in their Final-4 win and 6 points in their loss.&nbsp;&nbsp;</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='3529241' first='Drew' last='Ruelas'] North Valley Christian Academy&nbsp;</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>A scoring guard with defensive capabilities is a good shooter. He plays the passing lanes to collect steals and he will score. He has a nice three point touch off the catch and manages to get himself to the free throw line. He scored 12 points in their win and 5 points in the loss. </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph -->
