The 1 vs 2 game in Class AA is TONIGHT and we have the always exciting Royals/[program_tooltip program_id='2075965' first='Trojans' last=''] game at Hopkins, and a huge 3AAAA clash!

2AA Montevideo at 1AA Morris Area/Chokio-Alberta

Key Player. [player_tooltip player_id='2841055' first='Tyson' last='Grove'] of MACA. Grove is a 6'3 senior guard scoring 14 points a game and he is an outstanding shooter, maybe the best shooter in the state you don't know about. Grove is also yet another example of the depth of the Tigers and why this team is so good.

Prediction. The first game was a 68-66 MACA win way back on December 11th. [player_tooltip player_id='2377913' first='Alex' last='Asmus'] and [player_tooltip player_id='2436768' first='Brody' last='Dack'] each had 22 points in the first game for their respective teams and MACA just had a bit more depth but it was a dead even game. Both teams played last night, both teams are playing four games in five days. [player_tooltip player_id='2524646' first='Griffin' last='Epema'] only had nine points in the first game, I think he bounces back big and Montevideo wins this game 69-66.

2AAAA Wayzata at 8AAAA Hopkins

Key Player. [player_tooltip player_id='2420169' first='Ahmed' last='Nur']. The nationally ranked 6'11 Hopkins skilled four man is giving his team 15 points and 10 boards a game. Wayzata has a lot of pieces but they are not tall up front. Nur had 10 and eight in the first game, if he could give the Royals 20 that could go a long way.

Prediction. A year ago when these teams played at Hopkins during the regular season it was the talk of the town. And when they played that 4pm game when the weather was -99 below earlier this year, Wiggins had a game of the year performance. Tonight, Wayzata wins 79-72.

Eagan at Apple Valley

Key Player. [player_tooltip player_id='2271330' first='Trey' last='Parker']. I think we are about to see Parker explode. He is scoring 23 points a game and is likely being overlooked some in a lot of ways. He is a 39 percent three point shooter that can also attack.

Prediction. Eagan had trouble getting to wings and containing them in the previous game and both Parker and [player_tooltip player_id='2416949' first='Tyrese' last='Hutton'] had quality showings. I think it happens again, Apple Valley wins by nine.

3A Central Minnesota Christian at 7A Dawson-Boyd

Key Player. Carter Taatjes of CMC. The 6'3 junior is scoring 15 points per game as the second Jays option and this is a team that had three other returning all league players. His emergence has really helped CMC become a state contender.

Prediction. [player_tooltip player_id='2877054' first='Asher' last='Wieberdink'] had 16/14/7/3 in the last game and Carter had a team high 22 points. The Jays are just as deep if not deeper as DB but bigger, and they slowed the DB second and third options into awful shooting days. This game will be tougher, I say DB upset 73-72.

Rosemount at 6AAAA Prior Lake

Key Player. [player_tooltip player_id='2433515' first='Kolby' last='Thompson'] vs [player_tooltip player_id='2126455' first='Peyton' last='Gholson']. This is a very big guard match-up between two very good South metro guards. Who will have the bigger game?

Prediction. I think Prior Lake has too much up front and will really assert themselves for a 14 point win.

4AA Pequot Lakes at Bemidji

Key Player. [player_tooltip player_id='2127213' first='Tollef' last='Birkeland'] is back from injury and just had a 13 point game to help Pequot Lakes defeat Albany. They have been so good all year without him, with him they have a chance at a state title.

Prediction. A title contending AA team against a good AAAA team. Good state preparation battle as PL gets to play a team with multiple good guards and size, Bemidji gets another good opponent which is not easy to get without crazy travel. I think Bemidji by five.

3AA Goodhue at Stewartville

Key Player. [player_tooltip player_id='2826033' first='Pete' last='Tschetter']. Pete scored a team high 17 points for Stewartville giving an example that the Tigers do have the depth of players to compete with the best.

Prediction. The Tigers might have the depth but they don't have the type of quality that Goodhue has in [player_tooltip player_id='1951088' first='Luke' last='Roschen'] and [player_tooltip player_id='2394170' first='Alex' last='Loos'] who scored a combined 49 points in the first game (a 90-70 win). Goodhue wins by 17 this time.
