Following five statements made by Saturday's big name participants

Statement: [player_tooltip player_id='2933033' first='Kaiden' last='Morning'] (pictured) is emerging as one of the top point guards in the 2026 class

The Ann Arbor Huron point guard got off to a slow start against a talented Holland West Ottawa backcourt. In the second half moved ever so slightly off the ball and came alive offensively. Seemed much more comfortable attacking from the wing than the top of the key. Explosive off the bounce and did not seem to need a ball screen to get a step. Used his body well to both draw and finish through contact. Part of a personal 4-0 that was needed late. Showed athleticism and elevation with a leak out dunk. Scored in transition and out of designed sets. Including a strong lay up off a back door cut in a ATO look. The 6-1 lead guard showed off the full package. A solid ball handling and passing skillset was on ample display to complement the scoring touch. Operated well in the mid range has the size to shoot over most point guards.

Statement: [player_tooltip player_id='1588161' first='Cameron' last='Ryans'] doesn't need to score in bunches to affect winning

The first time I caught Ryans in Grand Rapids early in the year. He put on an absolute offensive showcase. Had everything working in a 30 point outing to defeat Grand Rapids Catholic Central. Playing against Rockford on Saturday, he took a slightly different approach. First foremost held up defensively against the Rams deep and big frontcourt rotation (see below) Initiated offense out of the high post. Finding open teammates. Including a highlight reel lob late. Operated well in the two man game with [player_tooltip player_id='2141008' first='Brayden' last='Williams']. Scored when needed to but did not needlessly force things against a Rockford scheme that was geared towards limiting his looks. Put up 18 points in the nip and tuck loss. Western Michigan is getting a good one in the Mr Basketball candidate. He should continue the developing Grand Rapids Northview pipeline heading down to Kalamazoo.

Statement: [player_tooltip player_id='2218021' first='Jake' last='Bascom'] is a legitimate Mr Basketball contender

Speaking of MAC bound Grand Rapids area prospects. Bascom's play on Saturday, and throughout the year, should have him in Mr. Basketball contention. The 6-6 do it all forward simply “did it all” once again in Rockford's gut check victory over Grand Rapids Northview. Finished with 14 points in the low scoring contest. Did most of his damage near the basket, but can play over the court. Moves well off the ball, especially for post. Showed quick lane agility in getting points out of Rockford's sets. Well schooled and keeps the ball high when catching it deep on the block. Soft touch around the basket, but can be mean with an above the rim flush when needed. I have written it many times before. There might be more talented players at the top of the class. But I'm not sure there is a better competitor. Isn't going to get out worked and is loaded with winning intangibles. Should be a nice fit for what the new staff at Central Michigan is trying to build.

Statement: [player_tooltip player_id='1806485' first='Julius' last='Wilson'] can possibly play both backcourt positions at the next level.

Despite his squad getting beat by Grand Rapids Catholic Central. Wilson showed the versatility and potential that has earned him a spot a Wayne St. Wilson made scoring look easy. An efficient ball handler who got to his spots in the mid range easily. Once there has the ability to rise over defenders with smooth and seemingly effortless elevation. The ball handling ability also allowed to play the point when needed. Has long arms that help him play taller than his listed height (6-3) Shows a diverse finishing skillset and a well schooled Euro step that he used in transition. I had him for 19 points on Saturday. Despite L'Anse Creuse North's season getting somewhat derailed by injuries and transfers. Wilson continues have a big campaign. The Warriors at Wayne St are getting versatile and skilled backcourt prospect.

Statement: [player_tooltip player_id='2360472' first='Jordan' last='McCoy'] is a next level point guard prospect

With the year long injury absence of a Division II recruit. McCoy has stepped into the void for Grand Rapids Catholic Central and showed what I have held for quite some time. Has the positional size (6-2) and defensive ability to play with anyone. Played through an illness and led the Cougars to a decisive victory over a L'Anse Creuse North squad featuring college talent in the backcourt (see above) With next level vertical explosion and lateral quickness, has no problem getting to the basket. However is the consummate point guard and tries to set up his teammates first (especially in this matchup) Not surprising that he earned some college offers after the weekend. Wouldn't be surprised if he earned even more as his strong senior campaign continues.
