We are just within a week from arguably the best week of the Indiana High School Boys Basketball season with Sectionals taking place across the state. This week, the Prep Hoops Indiana staff will give their in-depth previews of each Sectional however, I want to take a look at five players from each class that you need watch for to have strong showings. Here are five players from Class 3A to Watch.

When it comes to under-the-radar prospects in the Indiana class of 2026, Matelic is one of the better ones that you will find. Out of Speedway High School, Matelic has been outstanding for the Sparkplugs all season long averaging 25.4 points and 7.1 rebounds per game for them. Matelic is a longer point guard that uses his positional size to take advantage of the smaller defenders. You can watch him this week when Speedway opens up Sectional play vs Indianapolis Washington.

The Shelbyville Golden Bears have been one of the best teams in all of Class 3A this season and a big reason to that has been the play of senior point guard [player_tooltip player_id='1561061' first='Caden' last='Claxton']. The 5'11 on-ball guard will come in the postseason leading the Golden Bears with 17.3 points, 5.8 rebounds, and 4.0 assists per game. Toughness is the best word to describe Claxton — he competes hard on both ends of the floor despite his smaller size. You can watch him this week when Shelbyville opens up Sectional play vs the winner of Greenwood and Rushville.

Heritage Hills will be playing in one of the tougher Class 3A Sectionals in the state next week but luckily for them, they have one of the best frontcourt advantages in junior center [player_tooltip player_id='2140443' first='Tait' last='Wetzel']. The 6'6 big man will come into Sectional play averaging 13.8 points and 7.7 rebounds per game for the Patriots. He is a force on the glass, scores with a soft touch, and makes things difficult on the defensive end. You can watch him this week when Heritage Hills opens up Sectional play vs the winner of Mt. Vernon Farmersburg and Boonville.

When you have one of the better guards in the in-state class of 2027 on your team, you will always have a chance and with that, Brebeuf Jesuit will be one to watch in Indianapolis area come Sectionals. [player_tooltip player_id='2140342' first='Chace' last='Ford'] is one of the more underrated guards you will find in the Indianapolis area with him averaging 11.9 points per game for the Braves. Ford is a very strong and physical guard that presents matchup problems for opponents on the perimeter. You can watch him this week when Brebeuf Jesuit opens up Sectional play vs Tri-West.

The Norwell Knights will be one of the favorites to come out of Sectional 22 next week and a big reason to that is them having one of the better sophomores in the state in point guard [player_tooltip player_id='2617849' first='Josh' last='McBride']. The 6'2" guard has great size in the backcourt, especially for his age. He handles the ball well, is a good and willing passer in the open floor, and is athletic enough to go finish at the end of his drives. You can watch him this week when Norwell opens up Sectional play vs Heritage.
