The Case for the Wolfpack:

The back-to-back 2A state champions, Western Christian is in the midst of posting the ever-rare three state titles. After losing much of the talent from last season's squad, the likelihood of the Wolfpack returning for another championship seemed bleak, but, nonetheless, they are once again one of the top teams in western Iowa.

Much of that so far this season has to do with the rise of sensational sophomore and multi-sport star, [player_tooltip player_id='2772345' first='Tayden' last='Moret']. The leading scorer for the Wolfpack at this point in the year, Moret is averaging 18.9 points, seven rebounds, 3.5 assists and 1.6 steals per game. Not only having an increase in playing time and production because of his jump in experience and general improvement over the last year, Moret has had to take over a large chunk of the scoring duties with senior star and Dordt College commit, [player_tooltip player_id='2413626' first='Landon' last='De Stigter'] sidelined due to injury for roughly half of the season.

Unfortunately for the Wolfpack, the 6-foot-7 forward and most productive returner from last year's squad has delt with an injury that has kept him off the floor for eight games. With that said, in the ten games that he has played so far this year, De Stigter is averaging 18.6 points and 6.5 rebounds per game. All the while, he's been efficient from the floor, too, shooting 56.3% from the field and 40.9% from three. His health will be key to another run to Des Moines for Western Christian.

Moret isn't alone with De Stigter sidelined, though. Even in his absence, [player_tooltip player_id='3344376' first='Preston' last='Louters'] is contributing 11.5 points per game for the Wolfpack, shooting 53.3% from the field, 37.1% from three and a near-automatic 87.5% from the free throw line. He adds 4.3 rebounds per game, providing some supplemental size at 6-foot-3 while De Stigter recovers from injury.

A classmate of Moret, Toby Van Regenmorter has stepped up this season, too, as the sophomore is putting up 9.7 points and 3.8 per contest while shooting 37.3% from down town.

Any time a program can win multiple titles in a row at the state level, they've got to be on everyone's radar. Of course, the Wolfpack surely will be, but getting their 6-foot-7 senior back will help their efforts in winning that third championship in a row.
