On Tuesday, Jan 27th I attended the match-up of 4A Tempe Buffaloes hosting the 4A Dysart Demons. Dysart has a chance to make the OPEN and do well in the 4A playoffs and Tempe has an outside chance to be in the 4A playoffs.

I checked out two levels with JV and Varsity.

Here were the standouts on the night

All the stats are unofficial.

Junior Varsity Game (85-58 Dysart won)

[player_tooltip player_id='2433288' first='Carmelo' last='Tillman'] Dysart

A scoring lead guard shined in this game with one of the highest scoring games on JV I viewed this year. He will still make plays as a bail out passer for his teammates. He has a pure shooting stroke from the three point line and he will step back from the three and comes with deep range. He will cut off the ball, shoot it with mid-range pull-ups and he is super shifty with a high IQ. He scored 35 points with 5+ assists.

[player_tooltip player_id='2896632' first='Braylon' last='Tillman'] Dysart

A pure point guard is almost a throw back. He is consistently looking to make play and plays perfectly off of the pick and roll game and will throw up the court ropes on a dime. He changes speeds well and he will spin off of his defender and go to work. He scored 4 points with close to 10 assists.

[player_tooltip player_id='2957502' first='Justice' last='Wilson'] Dysart

An athletic wing forward who plays with a motor to compete. He will score with offensive rebound put backs, athletic finishes in traffic, floaters, runners and springs up in a blink of an eye to score it. He moves well on defense and will rebound and block shots better then most. He scored 13 points with 3 impressive blocks.

[player_tooltip player_id='2907245' first='CJ' last='Rodriguez'] Tempe

A scoring combo guard can fill up the scoreboard quickly. He loves using the mid-range pull-up with nice elevation and he is a true middy magician. He can step out and hit the three, he will score with transition baskets and he is a quick second jumper on the glass. He scored 22 points.

[player_tooltip player_id='3448670' first='Langston' last='Stewart'] Tempe

A long wing forward with some bounce and upside. He can throw it down on the break and he can play and defend multiple positions. He will hit shots from mid-range with a nice pull-up and rebounds the ball well. He finished with 8 points and had a huge block on varsity showing some fight.

Varsity Game (82-45 Dysart won)

[player_tooltip player_id='2759173' first='Jordan' last='Cruz'] Dysart

The lone freshmen starter for the West Valley team had a good showing. He is a scoring lead guard who will fill it up with threes off the catch, tear drops, quick bursts to the basket and the lefty will score with tough takes handling heavy contact and scoring thru it. He plays smartly off of the pick and roll game and will collect steals. He scored a game high 19 points.

[player_tooltip player_id='2434650' first='Ashton' last='Havvard'] Dysart

A thicker framed wing forward is tough, cerebral and skilled. He will throw passes up the court with an easy handle, grab rebounds in and out of his area and score. He hits catch threes in bunches, runs the floor well and uses his bigger body to get downhill. He scored 16 points with 7+ rebounds.

[player_tooltip player_id='1834712' first='Santiago' last='Leyva-Fonseca'] Dysart

A bigger framed power forward with high feel for the game. He is a phenomenal passer and will handle it to create his own offense. He will score with counter moves with either hand, hit the three off the catch and dominant the glass. He scored 10 points with almost 10 rebounds and 3-5 assists.

[player_tooltip player_id='1596641' first='Damien' last='Tillman'] Dysart

A scoring combo guard is a natural bucket. He is a little bigger then a year ago and can score it every way with back door layups, catch threes, mid-range pull-ups, contact layups on the break and he will collect steals and lay it in. He finished with 15 points and 3+ steals.

[player_tooltip player_id='2674120' first='Geo' last='Passmore'] Dysart

A scoring point guard gives you great minutes off the bench and another sure fire ball handler. The lefty will get downhill with a nice first step to score or get to the free throw line. He will also hit the three off the catch and scored 7 points.

[player_tooltip player_id='3448840' first='Tylann' last='Hendrix Meadows'] Tempe

An athletic scoring guard is a newcomer for me. He is very fast in the open court and on the break. He has a quick first step to the basket and he will shoot it from the perimeter. He can hit the three off the catch or pull and scored 11 points.

[player_tooltip player_id='2768020' first='Josiah' last='Criss'] Tempe

A very quick undersized scoring point guard. He is very fast on the break, aggressive to the basket and he will often earn trips to free throw line or finish at the rim. He will step thru to score and he finished with around 10 points.

[player_tooltip player_id='2768018' first='Deryke' last='Tucker'] Tempe

A long post player plays both spots up front and he does his best work on defense. He gobbles up rebounds in and out of his area and will alter or block shots. He is still a tad raw but will score with occasional drop step moves and he is fairly efficient with his layups. He scored 6 points with 5+ rebounds.

[player_tooltip player_id='3450642' first='Avery' last='Murphy'] Tempe

A long and lean scoring guard with natural upside. He moves well from end to end and he is quick in the passing lanes to collect steals and get deflections. He is a plus rebounder and will burst to the basket. He will also hit the three off the catch and runs well on the break.

On Tuesday, Jan 27th I attended the match-up of 4A Tempe Buffaloes hosting the 4A Dysart Demons. Dysart has a chance to make the OPEN and do well in the 4A playoffs and Tempe has an outside chance to be in the 4A playoffs.
