We put out weekly rankings here at Prep Hoops Indiana and those rankings are largely accepted around the state as the most in-depth and accurate. However, there are also the Prep Hoops Indiana "Power Scores" which are based on a formula that takes into account win percentage, point differential, strength of schedule, and the strength of each team's classification. Admittedly, there can be some issues from time to time because it is an automated formula that is only as good as the information that gets input, but it is interesting to look at from time to time and compare to our own rankings.

Fishers is the De Facto Top Team Indiana

There is no denying that the undefeated Fishers Tigers are the top team in Indiana. In fact, they are one of the top teams in the country. Even playing without their best player in junior point guard [player_tooltip player_id='2267046' first='Jason' last='Gardner Jr.'] they have ran through the state, once again, and will enter the postseason with a perfect 23-0 record. Unsigned senior forward [player_tooltip player_id='1509229' first='Kai' last='McGrew'] is averaging 15.4 points and 6.6 rebounds per for the Tigers. Junior guard [player_tooltip player_id='2140345' first='Cooper' last='Zachary'], one of the best shooters in the country, adds 14.9 points and 5.7 assists per game. Unsigned senior wing Ethan Hillsman is one to watch as well. He averages 12.0 points and 3.8 rebonds per game. Look for Fishers to get Gardner Jr. back for the tournament and make another run to Gainbridge Fieldhouse.

Northridge Commands Respect

We have been slowly but surely moving the Raiders up our rankings as they continue to win game after game. They are up to #8 in our poll, but come in at #3 in the Power Scores. Northridge is 20-1 and haven't lost since December 20th when they dropped one, 53-46, to a good Goshen team. They are led by Indiana Wesleyan signee [player_tooltip player_id='2398995' first='Brady' last='Scholl'] who has made a strong case to be an Indiana All-Star this season. [player_tooltip player_id='1561089' first='Hayden' last='Johnson'] is a sharp-shooting guard to watch for them as well.

Who are the Best Small Schools

The Power Scores seem to have more difficulty ranking the smaller schools. Admittedly, the Class 1A and 2A rankings look a bit off which is understandably because it is hard to weigh their losses against bigger schools or for the computer to understand the context of very differing schedule strengths.

Oak Hill checks in as the highest ranked Class 2A program at #12 overall and Westview is next at #16. Both teams are legitimate state title contenders and ranked highly in our Class 2A poll, but that feels a bit aggressive for them on a statewide basis. However, both programs feature Indiana Junior All-Star candidates in [player_tooltip player_id='2266894' first='Jace' last='Tonagel'] and Austin Slabach respectively. Have we actually been UNDER rating these two programs? The computers would say yes, but only time will tell.
