The Wilmington area is home to the GOAT in Michael Jordan but it's often overlooked in basketball coverage and recruiting based on location. There is a ton of talent that consistently comes out of that area and we're going to take a deeper look at a group of guys really shining bright down by the beach. Every single year there are state title contenders from this area, and this year looks to be no different!

Seward is proving to be one of the 910's most productive seniors with what he's done at Hoggard this season. With his team sitting at 14-5 and 6-1 in league play, it looks like Hoggard is one of the area's top teams with Seward as a major reason why. The senior is averaging 17.4 Points, 6.8 Rebounds, 1.4 Assists, and 1.5 Steals on the season. He's doing all of that on 60/39/68 splits, showing he can score it from every level on the floor. Seward has a true inside/out skillset, he can post smaller guards and exploit more traditional bigs with his ability to make shots and create offense off the bounce. Seward can guard multiple positions and understands the difference in defensive responsibilities when guarding different types of players. Hoggard will be a really tough out in 8A and should be looked at as a real contender to come out of the east. Seward is a huge reason behind this groups success.

Dixon is one of the most exciting guards in the greater Wilmington Area at Oak City Prep with his ability to create offense being his true calling card. Dixon has deep range off the bounce which allows him room to operate when in slash and kick mode. He's really capable in regards to self creating off the bounce and has great footwork when gathering for his jumper. Dixon is showing real growth as a full time PG, making great reads in ball screen situations. Dixon is capable of playing above the rim in transition and is poised to start getting more and more next level attention as he is getting ready for that pivotal 17u travel ball summer. As of January 16th, Dixon is averaging 21 Points and 7 Assists per game.

Kellum is another guy that has been a consistent producer and winner in North Carolina for the entirety of his high school career at New Hanover. With his team sitting at 14-5 and 6-1 in conference play, Brown is truly leading the charge. He's averaging 22.2 Points, 8.6 Rebounds, 2.2 Assists, 2.4 Steals, and 0.5 blocks on the season. He's doing it all on 52/36/70 splits, showcasing how he can be truly efficient on a high volume. Brown possesses the ability to make special plays that swing the momentum for his team while having a true 94 foot presence the entire time he's in the game. Brown is a disruptive on ball defender that uses his physical gifts and tenacity to create havoc for the opposition. He's becoming a truly complete offensive weapon that is just progressing in every area at a really nice rate. I fully expect Brown to continue to establish himself as one of NC's top available gems as New Hanover looks to embark on another deep playoff run.

Anderson is proving to be one of Wilmington's top guards regardless of class with the work he's been putting in at Laney High School. He's got the ability to run a team while also taking the game over with his own offense from time to time. Laney is 13-7 on the season and off to a strong 6-2 start in conference play. Anderson is averaging 15.6 Points, 3.5 Rebounds, 2.3 Assists, and 2.3 Steals on the season. He's been efficient as well with 44/37/69 shooting splits. Despite not being the biggest guard, Anderson embraces the physical nature of the game and it is contagious to whoever he's on the floor with. A tough, tone setting, skilled, and competitive PG is simply what you get with [player_tooltip player_id='2232905' first='Kareem' last='Anderson'].

Cape Fear Academy is enjoying an impressive season at 16-10 with sophomore big man Alex Wolf leading the charge at both ends of the floor. Wolf is averaging 13.5 Points, 5.6 Rebounds, 1.1 Assists, 0.6 Steals, and 0.5 Blocks. He's doing all of that on 56/43/69 splits, showcasing that he's already got some touch as a young big. He's only taken 7 from beyond the arc on the season (about 1 every 3 games) but he has made 3 of those attempts. Wolf really understands what he has to do out there defensively and does a great job walling up on the inside to help protect the rim. He's got real touch around the basket that is showing flashes to beyond the arc, and is progressing really nicely in his development in all areas. Wolf is undoubtedly a young big to track moving forward in NC's 2028 class.
