When we talk about ceiling, there are not many players in the state that can affect the game in the ways that he can, and the thing about it is, he's still very raw. So this is a year of learning for him and getting acclimated to varsity speed, but he's been a consistent force in their first few games. At the break, he's been the No.4 top scorer in the class at 15.1 pts a game. But that's not all, the 6'7 paint beast has also owned the glass, as well as he's averaging a double-double with 10 rebounds to go along with it. He's put up a couple of blocks in every game, he alters shots at the rim, and is proving that he's one of the class's top players. Rough start for his team, but they have something they're building over there with a big man that's one of the top players in the conference. He remains in the Top 5 in the rankings.

Don't look now, but freshman guard [player_tooltip player_id='2837164' first='Lucas' last='Dowling'] has been Fort Collins' best player through 7 games. He plays with poise, the game seems to come easily for him, and he reads what is happening not he floor. I also love how assertive he is. He's gunning for shots, attacking mismatches, and staying shot-ready. He's the team's go-to guy already and impacts the game in various ways. He's averaging an impressive 13.3 points, and 5 rebounds a game. He is also showing himself as a willing passer and has 2.3 steals to go along with it. He's a prospect that we were high on before he played a single varsity minute, and he's solidified himself as a Top-3 player who has room to grow.

Urich has earned minutes on a team that won state a season ago and are a Top-10 team as only a freshman. He seems to be getting better and more familiar with how to create in each game. There will be areas for growth of course, from a player this young, but there are things to like here. He's aggressive and not shy when he's on the floor. If there's an open shot, he's going to take it, and while his shot has not fallen, he's still trying to be impactful in other areas of the game. He's also a strong rebounder who plays with great energy and will be a two-way standout when it's al said and done. Excited to see how he plays in the second half of the season.

Mahlberg is one of the few underclassmen that Valor has on varsity and has earned his minutes. He's a glue guy right now who is a workhorse guard that has to make the most of the opportunities that are there. He's gotten in a few games and played well. He rebounds well for his size, gets out in transition, and excels when the game is sped up a bit. This will be a season of him getting acclimated to this Valor team and building chemistry but also building trust with teammates. I expect him to continue to be a rotation player for Valor in the second half and to show that he belongs. He's a player to watch in this class.

Rooney dominated on JV and showed that he was ready for more varsity minutes and is the sole underclassman on one of the top teams in the state. He's a confident shooter who spaces the floor, moves without the ball, and you have to know where he's at the moment that he gets on the floor. He's a sniper for deep and has been accurate from deep in the moments that he has been on the floor. He runs the lanes well, gets out and pushes the ball in transition, and can play both on and off the ball. Rooney is a prospect that we want to get more eyes on but we liked what we saw from him to start the season.

Ayden is the sole freshman who is playing varsity, and he's actually getting time and learning. He's been a guard who is going with the flow of the offense and doing what is asked of him. He's running the offense and getting them in the sets, rotating the ball, and playing unselfishly. He's been doing the little things. Such as rebounding hard and racking up assists, and that will only help with confidence and earn trust from his coaches and teammates. I expect him to earn more minutes heading into the second half of the season, and he's a freshman to keep an eye on.
