Here are a few teams that have been playing well, as we spotlight them as a team of the week.

6A

Syracuse,

While not many people have been talking about Syracuse in Region 1 because you have power teams like Davis and Layton, and even a team like Farmington that is young and ready to make a move, Syracuse picked up a big-time win against Layton. Syracuse was attacking and getting to the line, shooting a lot of free throws. [player_tooltip player_id='1958347' first='Skylar' last='Orton'] scored 27 points and hit 4 three-pointers, but the thing that was even more impressive was his 5 rebounds and 6 assists. Syracuse has made Region 1 a little more interesting. A player that had a great showing as well was [player_tooltip player_id='2539694' first='Carter' last='Robinson'], the lengthy forward had his handprints on this game, and if he can maintain, he is going to be a game-changer for this team. Syracuse is getting some good minutes from [player_tooltip player_id='2400410' first='Cohen' last='Godderidge']. This weks team of the week in 6A is Syracuse.

5A

West Field

Last season, West Field showed glimpses of their potential with some notable wins. This year, they are 9-4 and on track to exceed their inaugural season win total of 11. The team is driven by three promising young players: [player_tooltip player_id='2572826' first='Daxton' last='Laughter'], [player_tooltip player_id='2344083' first='Drew' last='Faddis'], and [player_tooltip player_id='2572828' first='Cason' last='Malan']. This trio consistently scores in double figures. Laughter had a standout 26-point performance against Fremont and has maintained his strong performance since. Faddis has recorded four 20-point games and is poised for continued growth. Malan has proven to be a valuable contributor, excelling in rebounding and assisting with remarkable consistency. West Field is currently undefeated in region play at 4-0 and is in a strong position in Region 5.

4A

East,

Not many teams are doing what East has been doing, and that is playing a very tough schedule as a 4A team. They have 6 tough losses to good teams in higher classifications than them. East has figured out how to win away from home, and they have also found ways to win those tough close ones, too. Last years 7 win season is in the rear view mirror as they have 11 wins this season already. The development of [player_tooltip player_id='2450656' first='Oscar' last='Keegan'] has been night and day. Keegan is averaging almost 17 PPG and is among the best sophomores in the state. Jett Rimando has been really good this season. His quickness and steady pace have been good for East this season. Rimando has also been able to get going from beyond the arc. Solid all around PG. They also have a player who has been on the rise in [player_tooltip player_id='1958282' first='Quinn' last='McCallum']. East is currently undefeated in a brutal region.

3A

Morgan,

The Trojans are the highest-scoring team in the state and are led by [player_tooltip player_id='2388587' first='Bracken' last='Saunders'], who also became the all-time scoring leader in Morgan High School history. Saunders is an incredible player who is a no-brainer at the D2 level, and that goes for the top D2 programs in the country. He is also a no-brainer at the NJCAA D1 level, as he could refine his skills and land at a Division 1 school. With that said, Morgan is playing some good basketball. They continue to be the front-runner in 3A and are getting production from many players, including [player_tooltip player_id='2731117' first='Jake' last='Hansen'], a 5'11 guard that is putting up huge numbers. Hansen is an off-the-radar 2026 prospect that is showing he can also play at the next level. [player_tooltip player_id='1978925' first='Mason' last='Williams'] continues to do his thing, and Morgan is on pace to win 21 games this season. A big game to watch is their game against American Heritage.

2A

American Leadership Academy

2A is another classification with plenty of contenders, and American Leadership Academy is among the best. They feature a blend of strong guard play and interior presence. Jakobe Ross is the team's primary playmaker, averaging 14 points and 6 assists per game. He's poised to become a triple-double threat. Copper Crockett, a 6'8+ force, is a versatile player who dominates on the boards. ALA looks to be a tough team to beat this season. Keep an eye on Jalen Brewer, another versatile player with great court awareness.

1A

Wayne,

Blake Peterson, a 6'2 guard, has been outstanding this season for Wayne. He is currently less than 200 points away from reaching the 1,000-point milestone. Hunter Robbins and Tristan Martinez have also made significant contributions, bringing both scoring ability and valuable experience to the team. With a strong 10-3 record, featuring some key wins and a few close contests, Wayne has had a remarkable season so far, setting the stage for strong regional play.
