[player_tooltip player_id='3462123' first='Luke' last='West'] will leave Bingham High School as the All-Time Leading Scorer in school history, surpassing Yoeli Childs, a former star at both Bingham and BYU. Childs is currently playing professional basketball in Japan. This season, West averaged 21 points per game (PPG) and accumulated over 1,500 points for his career. He led Bingham back to the State Championship game for the first time since 2017. West demonstrated exceptional leadership this year, particularly in the playoffs, where his outstanding performances propelled Bingham to the final. He scored a combined 72 points in the quarterfinal and semi-final games. West is a promising prospect who can contribute to a winning culture, given his history of success.

What West Brings to the Next Level

West will bring competition to the lead guard position. He is about 6'3, and he has gotten strong, so he has been able to defend high-level 3's and 4's. That extra strength also helps him as he attacks the rim and finds himself in positions to get through contact. On the ball, West has been really good at getting by defenders with that twitchy first step, and then he keeps those defenders off balance with a nice pull-up midrange jumper. When it comes to that midrange jumper, this is the shot that can really get him on the floor at the next level. 3-point shooting has improved and will get better. West, as a lead guard at a MM, is great as he works on different aspects of his handle and vision while having the ball in his hands. West is a steal at the LM/MM level.
