continues to show why he is the best player in the state and is trying to shut down the race for Player of the Year early! On Saturday Warren traveled to the metro east to play at the prestigious Highland Shootout. This was an opportunity for fans and media in the southern part of the state to see the show and he brought it once again! It is a combination of scoring, dishing, pesky defense, and off the charts leadership that make him a special college prospect. The lefty banged in an array of threes in the win and was slick in the lane on his go to euro step move. Also dished it very well in this half court making crisp reads finding shooters as he went for 33 points (13-25 FG) (6-10 3PT), 6 assists, 4 rebounds, and 3 steals in the win. We chatted with him before the game about what he was looking forward to about the atmosphere!
“I am excited. It is a big time crowd here. I want to display my feel for the game. How I can be a point guard on the national level.”
He is also coming off a 51 point outing at the Big Dipper final to win the tournament in the championship game.
“It was amazing! It fell in the flow of the game. I was hitting shots going 7-9 from three. That was a fun night for me and my teammates. It was a title game and I had to do anything to come out with a win.”
Davis spoke about what the latest is with his recruitment.
“A lot of Big 10 schools Michigan, Michigan State, Illinois, Northwestern, and Purdue. A little of SEC with Georgia. Louisville and Providence have been in contact. I am looking forward to a big spring and summer to see where it carries to.”
He says that four Big 10 programs are making him a major priority.
“Northwestern is sending me letters every day. Purdue is really locked in on me. Michigan and Michigan State contact me every day.”
Any recent visits?
“Not recently. I have been to all the schools that have contacted me. I have been to Michigan and Michigan State multiple times. I know I am headed back to Purdue when they play Indiana in February. Northwestern I have been there a few times.”
We broke down the four programs with Davis who are pursuing him the most.
Northwestern
“I like Coach Collins a lot and how he uses Jayden Reid at the guard position. It is close to home. I was born in Evanston and my family could be at all my games. That would be a big impact on me.”
Purdue
“Mackey Arena is probably the best arena to play in throughout the entire country. Coach Painter is a wonderful guy and I love him a lot. Brayden Smith Brayden Smith 5'10" Barry Western | 2026 IL is graduating this year. They are bringing in a guard in 2026 so they are locking in on bringing in another guard in 2027. They are keying in on me.”
Michigan State
“Izzo is a big part of it. All these coaches bringing a loving feeling on and off the court. Izzo is a big part of it. Jeremy Fears is a good guard. They are always winning and I want to be apart of a winning program.”
Michigan
“Coach May is an offensive minded coach. Elliot Cadeau at the point guard reads the floor well and has been shooting it from three better. I like how he went in the portal this year, but he says he wants to build it from freshman up and start bringing guys in as freshman to impact.”
What is the next step in the process for him?
“I would say keep working and staying in the gym. A dream of mine is to get an offer from a blue blood school. Just play at the highest level in college and hopefully professionally.”
He told us what he is thinking on a decision timeline for his commitment.
“My guess is probably next fall between October and November. I am not fully sure yet.”
