Ellwood is secretly the engine for Rock Canyon as he is the true floor general who keeps everything organized. He handles pressure, pushes tempo, and gives them the freedom to play fast. He scores at all three levels, knocks down the three consistently, and finds shooters and slashers in rhythm. What separates him is his attacking mindset. He breaks defenders down, gets into the paint, and makes decisive reads that shift games. This will be a year where I feel he gets a bit more recognition as the X Factor that keeps Rock Canyon going.

Rooney has the makeup of a player who can rise into the conference's top tier with a big season. He's dangerous in the open court, plays hard with a physical frame, and this summer, we saw him be trusted with the ball more. What I feel that Rooney did over the summer that will make for a successful season if it is applied is his decision-making with the ball and ability to set up not only himself for baskets, but others. Putting him at the guard spot allows for a dangerous scorer who can create mismatches. He competes on every possession, thrives in space, and if the production matches the tools, his stock takes a real jump for Mountain Vista. He's the No.2 X-factor in the conference this season.

Medina is a high-ceiling big whose development could unlock everything for Rock Canyon. At 6'8, his frame alone changes matchups, and when he plays with force, he becomes a real presence inside. He'll need to rebound at a higher rate, be more physical, and alter shots consistently. The flashes are there. Dominance and consistency are the next step toward becoming the anchor they need. When it starts to click, watch out. He is a top X-factor in the conference.

Haubert is the running mate for Regis. He's a point guard who understands when to feed his top option and when to hunt his own offense. He's dangerous in isolation, gets to his spots with ease, and breaks defenders down off the bounce. Regis will be surrounded by veterans, and he'll be tasked with steadying the ship while staying aggressive. His balance between creator and scorer is the key to unlocking what they have for Regis, and he will have to be one of the better guards in the conference this season. Big year upcoming for him.

Rangel is the ultimate X-factor despite already being Heritage's leading scorer and engine. Something clicked late in his junior year, and he went on a scoring tear against top competition while also leading the team in assists. As a junior, double-figure scoring became routine, and the offense ran through him. He'll be asked again to make it happen. For Heritage to make a push, he'll have to be even better. I'm expecting him to turn some heads this season as he looks to have his team compete.
