Pima Aztec Classic Standouts Part Two

The tournament included the following schools AZ College Prep, Buena, Canyon Del Oro, Flowing Wells, Gilbert, Gregory, Ironwood Ridge, Kofa, Nogales, Palo Verde, Pueblo, Santa Rita, Sahuaro, Sunrise Mountain, Tanque Verde and Tucson High. Valle has a nice handle and footwork that allows him to be an effective scorer for the Nighthawks. He has a really nice floater he scores with in his high percentage mid range game. Showed off his ability to knock down the deep three. Great defensive awareness. Picked a couple passes and forced some turnovers with his defensive pressure. A high impact player that can fill a role and has the ability to completely take over a game. Relentless and vocal defender who will force a turnover then sprint down and finish the play with a dunk to get the excitement going. Rebounds extremely well for his position gaining many extra possessions for the Titans. Shot the three ball very well and showed off a strong mid range game. Showed off a high percentage three point shot. Has a smooth and quick release. Sees the floor well making strong passes that get to their target. Butler has a strong dribble and good skill to get to his spots. Sprints and plays great in transition. Plays hard and continues to show hes a rising prospect in the 2028 class. He shot the ball really well. Came off the bench and immediately knocked down a three. He was shooting the ball confidently going 4/7 from the perimeter. Matus is a very high IQ player and doesn't waste possessions. Makes high level reads and executes. Strong on ball defender and just as dangerous off the ball picking off passes and disrupting the offenses plays. He is a highly skilled dribbler has extremely high court vision. Fast paced and makes quick, high level reads. His passing skills and play execution are next level His defensive awareness showed with his many steals in transition. Sneaking up and knocking the ball loose from his opponent. His on-ball footwork and speed made him hard to deal with on the defensive end. Rebounds well with his size and wingspan giving him a great advantage. Scores very well close range. Showed he is a very dangerous three point threat as he shoots the deep ball extremely well. Has a strong post game where he will back down his defender and score within two dribbles off the glass or with a nice floater. Has the size and skill to contribute at the next level. He makes great reads on the move and has the ability to read the court very well. High IQ passer. A sniper from the perimeter knocking down four of his five shots from behind the arc. Very quick and dangerous on the defensive end. Plays at a fast pace and is very effective.
