Gonzaga DC Classic Sunday’s Results Top Performers Part 1

The 3rd and final day of the 36th Annual Gonzaga DC Classic Sundays featured a rematch of last year championship game with Gonzaga defeating Chaminade from St. Louis, Missouri 71-66 in a well-played and competitive game. That feature an abundance of underclassmen to keep an eye for the next two to three years.   Top Performers in Championship Game    [player_tooltip player_id='2194753' first='Dave' last='Mbuyamba'] was named Tournament MVP after scoring 22 points on an efficient 8-11 shooting from the field and converting 6-7 from the free throw line. Throughout the event, Mbuyamba demonstrated interior dominance, showing the ability to score over either shoulder and use his wide frame to control both ends of the floor.     [player_tooltip player_id='1446576' first='Jonny' last='Jordan'] named to the All-Tournament Team finished with 20 points, shooting 4-9 from three-point range and 7-13 from the field. The smooth combo guard continues to impress with his scoring ability from anywhere on the floor and his playmaking skills, setting up teammates through effective penetration and sharp passing.     [player_tooltip player_id='2758600' first='Patrick' last='Shime'] delivered his best performance to date, coming off the bench to score 8 points on 3-4 shooting, including 1-2 from beyond the arc. A long and athletic forward, Shime showcased his versatile skillset, using his length to score from the perimeter and disrupt passing lanes. His physical tools and potential make him a prospect to watch both basketball and football.     The older brother of Dave, [player_tooltip player_id='1784446' first='Allen' last='Mbuyamba'] is a strong, physical wing known for finishing through contact and rising to the moment. He consistently converts mid-range jumpers and attacks the glass with intensity. Allen's toughness and relentless effort impact the game on both offense and defense. He finished the game with 13 points on 6-9 shooting, showcasing his trademark intensity and approach.     Mohamed Kourouma contributed 12 points on 5-6 shooting, including 2-2 from three-point range. As one of the top underclassmen in the event, Kourouma impressed with his athleticism, scoring in transition, blocking shots, and rebounding. He displayed the ability to handle the ball, score off the dribble, finish through contact, and reliably shoot from the perimeter. Kourouma is poised to be Chaminade's next Power 5 talent, following in the footsteps of alumni like Jayson Tatum and Bradley Beal.     Love seeing a kid that plays with grit & heart —Poniewaz showcased the type of play in the three-day event. Solid on the ball defender who disrupted actions without needing steals —deflections, timely rotations, and drawn charges all swung possessions. Elijah perimeter shooting 20 points on 7-13 from the field and 3-6 from the three-point line. Shot 3-6 from the free throw line.
