In a game that was incredibly ugly in the first half, Scholl came out firing in the second half with multiple key 3-pointers in their comeback effort. Late in the game Scholl had a key lefty late to help extend Big Walnut's lead. Gritty effort by Big Walnut to respond from a sluggish first half to leave with a win.

Dropping 51 points is an easy way to make a top performer article as Lucas broke the record for most points at the 5 C's Classic. Making a high percentage of his 3-point looks, Lucas was making them from the top of key, wing and corner. I also liked how aggressive he was as a rebounder, getting numerous second chance buckets. I also liked how Lucas motor never stopped and once Walnut Ridge got a lead, he continued to play with an edge that showed the Scots were never giving up the lead they built.

Newark is operating like a well oiled machine right now and Brooks showed he's due for a rankings bump during our next update with a really impressive performance on both ends of the court. Showing more burst on the ball than I remembered, Brooks blew by the defense multiple times off the dribble. His best move of the day came when he split a trap and hit an incredible acrobatic layup that was an and-1. Right now, Newark is playing as well as any team in central Ohio.

Saint Ignatius is one of the toughest defensive teams in Ohio and Jones is their best defensive player. Flying around the court for incredible blocks and also locking down ball handlers at the point of attack, Jones is causing havoc no matter where he is defensively. I also was encouraged by Jones knocking down two time and space 3-pointers. Jones also made a couple nice live dribble passes to teammates.

Calloway reminded folks why he's one of the top players in central Ohio with a dominant performance to end the night. Calloway had an excellent and-1 finish where he floated in the air past a shot blocker. Also knocking down some nasty pull-up 3-pointers. I love how low Calloway gets on his dribble and he made some nasty drift passes from the baseline. Those passes led to numerous 3-pointers for Calloway's teammates. Bishop Hartley is rolling after an opening week loss.
