Lets take a look at this region's top teams and players as we journey into the beginning of the season.

Good showed some huge upside in preseason workouts with the BlueChips Nation group. He showed a huge improvement in his strength and explosion. I think for single A he's one of the top prospects overall in WV in that class as well as in all classes. Look for him to have absolutely dominating performances and post big double-double numbers regularly.

State Tournament Qualifier Prediction

Tucker County: If history continues to repeat itself you'll see Tucker return to the Civic Center in Charleston once again and for good reason. Once again they have an experienced squad with nice mix of defenders, shooters and ball handlers. Great experience coming back with returning starters [player_tooltip player_id='2340982' first='Alexander' last='Lambert'] and [player_tooltip player_id='2822057' first='Sam' last='Marks'] but also [player_tooltip player_id='2306373' first='Mikey' last='Mitchell'] who has been in the rotation for a couple years and is a deep threat from three. You'll see an influx of youth with multi-sport star [player_tooltip player_id='2434921' first='Cayden' last='Arnold'], the athletic [player_tooltip player_id='2413869' first='Ethan' last='Cummings'], Tucker keeps churning out ball players annually that always seem talented and poised to play in the state tournament.

Pendleton County: Leaning on the returning Owens's, [player_tooltip player_id='3077220' first='Chase' last='Owens'] who averaged 20+ last year and [player_tooltip player_id='2721718' first='Travis' last='Owens'] who was impressive in his freshman campaign, as well as the big man in the middle with Cashton Kisamore, Pendleton looks to return to Charleston. With two of the region's best guards and a legit big man in the middle its plenty for coach Bodkin to work with towards a tournament run.

Region Roundup

One of the most under the radar athletes in this region, and there are many, is [player_tooltip player_id='2351428' first='Jacob' last='Wamsley'] who's a three sport standout and averaged 13ppg as a sophomore and 16ppg and 8rpg last season.

This region is interesting in the structure, albeit geographically driven, it also has four of the smallest if the four smallest WVSSAC schools in WV with Paw Paw, Harman, Pickens and WV School for Deaf & Blind.

Pendleton's head coach Jeremy Bodkin has had a robust and lengthy effect on WV high school basketball starting with dominating performances in Charleston himself as a high schooler playing at Franklin. Bodkin of course went on to be a solid player for WVU and eventually served the WVSSAC as an official and in my opinion one of the better one's I've watched. Bodkin then took over as head coach at his home county Pendleton and immediately turned them into a single A power with multiple state tournament appearances under his belt.
