Badin has a strong senior class with a lot of chemistry and that should allow them to hit the ground running over some other teams who are incorporating newer pieces. Stroud is a lefty guard who had a couple breakaway layups where he beat the defense down the court in transition off steals and layups. Stroud also hit a 3-pointer just before the buzzer of a quarter and even took a charge. Solid performance from an experienced senior guard who should make a big impact this season.

The new face for Badin in their deep 2026 class, Bowling came off the bench and made an immediate impact with his soft hands and interior finishing ability. Bowling was catching and finishing with ease and using his height advantage in the paint to efficiently score over smaller defenders. Bowling also had a couple offensive rebounds to create extra possessions and ran the floor for some easy layups. Badin has chemistry, shooting and with Bowling they have size as well.

Lakota East got a nice win to open their season against a well coached Chaminade Julienne team. Willis shot the ball with extreme confidence off the bench and extended his range well beyond the 3-point line. Showing good chemistry with star point guard [player_tooltip player_id='2422124' first='Brady' last='Bowman'], Willis was confident and even made some hustle plays defensively. Nice to see a shooter come in off the bench and make a difference in a tight win.

A new name for myself, Majack was the most productive player for Chaminade Julienne as the wing was getting to his spots off the dribble and rising up for contested buckets off isolation. With a strong frame and quick change of direction ability, Majack showed some impressive talent on the ball and looks like a player who will be on the all GCL team this winter.

Maysville took a tough loss to open their season but the Panthers still have a lot to look forward to thanks to a furious second half comeback that allowed them to tie the game with under a minute to play. I thought Roehrig was the Panther's most productive overall player on Friday as he impacted the game in a variety of ways. A strong forward, Roehrig was securing rebounds and finishing in the paint efficiently. A smart decision maker, Roehrig is the type of forward you can give the ball to and trust to make the right decision.

Mount Vernon was dominant in their victory over Lebanon as pretty much everybody who touched the floor for Mount Vernon made an impact. Daughtery was shooting the ball at an extremely high level as it seemed like every time he caught the ball with space it was going up and going in for 3-pointer. That type of confidence as a shooter goes a long way and Daughtery also deflected a couple passes and fought over screens. Impressive showing by the smallest player who saw the floor on Friday night.
