We’ve mentioned Willis before in our coverage and will again. He was a lights out shooter that heated up in a hurry. Willis had a fast shooting motion from catch to follow through. He suffered an injury that seemed to limit him later, but trust me, that’s a college jumper.

Willis was a fearless shooter. In fact, it played a big part in us naming him as a Mitten State Mash All-Star. He showed pretty close to volleyball line range on his jumper. And Willis was fearless. He was willing and able to pull up at any time if the defense didn’t pick up.

Willis was scorching the nets when I saw him play for the Cincy Reapers. Easily 1 of the most dangerous shooters and scorers in the gym. Willis was a fearless shooter that needed very little space due to his quick and smooth release. He was also solid and smart with the ball. Willis could advance it like a PG and shoot it like a high scoring wing.

Lakota East got a nice win to open their season against a well coached Chaminade Julienne team. Willis shot the ball with extreme confidence off the bench and extended his range well beyond the 3-point line. Showing good chemistry with star point guard

, Willis was confident and even made some hustle plays defensively. Nice to see a shooter come in off the bench and make a difference in a tight win.

Willis was making some tough shots from long range on Friday as his perimeter shooting ability and confidence creating for himself off the dribble has taken a noticeable jump from when I saw him last fall in the Midwest Fall League. Willis has always been known as a shooter but his confidence to take and make tougher shots was on display on Friday evening and he even beat a few defenders off the dribble for either floaters or dishes to his teammates. If Willis and his team can get consistent stops defensively, they could make some noise this weekend with the offensive talent on their team.

Willis knocked down back-to-back deep 3-pointers to help turn the tide in a back and forth second half that eventually saw his team come out on top. Shooting a pretty basketball with his feet set, Willis was knocking down shots from behind the 3-point line at an efficient rate. Late in the game, Willis hit a corner 3-pointer to push his teams lead to four points.
