The 2027 MD/DC player rankings were updated earlier today where we saw 10 players make significant jumps thanks to a productive late summer/early fall. Aaron Proia highlights a handful yesterday and I'll break down the remaining five below.

Canton jumped nearly 40 spots as he looks to fill out a primary role for Mt. Zion Prep this season. He's looked strong this fall both literally and figuratively as the 6-foot-2 guard has established himself as an impactful finisher around the rim in fall events. With a quick first step to gain advantages in driving lanes, Canton consistently forces the defense to collapse and present opportunities for himself or others. He's a presence in the open floor and creates advantages with or without the ball. The shooting has been an improving aspect of Canton's game that could be the ultimate swing skill for projecting his ceiling. While his rise in the latest update was steep, he may not be finished.

Another tough-nosed guard who arrived in the DMV over the summer was Green. The Alabama native mans the controls for an intriguing Springdale Prep team filled with size and raw upside. His ability to operate in the half court, mix up his scoring presence, and bring his hard hat defensively will be an addition to the program that last year's team desperately needed to reach their ceiling. Green's showing this summer and fall has him receiving a massive 99 (!!) spot boost up to No. 34. Similar to Canton, this could be the beginning of another future rise for the lead guard.

It's going to be interesting to see how Van Norden fits into the McNamara frontcourt rotation that's filled with length, athleticism, and prospects with an extremely high ceiling. What he does bring is a no nonsense, physical presence that allows him to bang with the imposing bigs in the paint. He operates well with sound footwork around the bucket and has soft touch on over the shoulder hooks or floaters. He uses his strong base and broad shoulders that allow him to standout on the football field to translate in maintaining his post presence on the hardwood and scooping up rebounds in bulk.

Goings received his bump after a nice showing at our Expo in September where he showed off a quicker first step, playing with a more controlled pace, and his ability to impact the game at both ends. He's processing the game at a nice rate when operating off the bounce and when he's off the ball, has good instincts on where to be in order to make himself available for catch-and-shoots. This should be a telling year for Goings as he steps into a bigger role as an upperclassman.

Kuek is still a ball of clay as a prospect but has the frame, wingspan, and intriguing athleticism that demands attention. Another new face in the DMV, this time from South Dakota, Kuek will look to make a splash with PGCA and have ample opportunity to do so playing on big stages thanks to [player_tooltip player_id='1782657' first='Neiko' last='Mundey'] (Texas A&M commit) and others. For Kuek, it'll be an opportunity to show college programs his versatility and budding skillset, which certainly can draw you in. He showed flashes this fall and with more consistency, could see a bump in the next update after the high school season progresses.
