Tecumseh Braves Basketball Season Preview:

Best as a catch and shoot guy, but is comfortable getting his shot off the dribble as well. Does a good job running off screens getting open and makes hard basket cuts. Work in progress defensively, but the effort is there. Good anticipation skills off the ball jumping passing lanes. Smooth guard that plays at his own pace. Not the quickest player but uses his body well to get to his spots where he can get all the way to the basket or is comfortable rising up in the midrange. Of all the guards on the roster, Waylon does the best job playing through contact and being able to stay balanced to make plays. At 6'5”, he has a nice offensive game that can play inside and out. Capable of stretching his jump shot out to the three-point line as well as being a guy that you can feed the ball down low and allow him to make a play. Able to finish around the basket with a soft touch. Has also shown good court vision when the double team comes. His impact on the defensive end will be as his conditioning goes. Offensively he's a straight line driver. Showed the ability last season to make good reads off the dribble finding teammates on the backside. He's a high IQ playmaker that impacts the game on the offensive end without having to score. Small in stature and will go through growing pains dealing with the physicality of the varsity game, he's a good decision maker that will be able to relieve the other guards on the roster with his ball handling. He plays really good in the pick and roll and shows great court vision. He sometimes tries to make passes he's not strong enough to make just yet but the vision is undeniable. Versatile defender that's able to guard multiple positions on the floor. Does a good job reading the ball off the rim for rebounds and has shown the ability to push in transition. As the smallest school in the PAC, the Braves always schedule up and play some of the best teams around.
