We look at which teams will contend for a CHSAA title and the players who will lead them in the class A South division. St. Joseph's by the Sea will be a strong contender for the title in a hotly contested division. Fordham Prep will mix talented senior leadership with a young nucleus. While Farrell will have a very deep roster with the ability to mix and match. Mike Dunn the winningest coach in school history and always shared his views with me stepped down after last season. He will be missed. The reins have been handed off to long time assistant Dan Fisher.

St Joseph by the Sea has a POY candidate and an all state selection player in Nick Rebracca. The 6”4 2027 player mixes good size with a nice guard/wing skillset. One of the best three point shooters in the city. He is able to rise up and shoot it while being fundamentally sound. Defenses will try to stop him which is not an easy task. Which other players step up will show how far this deep talented roster can go.

Fordham Prep has a POY candidate as well. [player_tooltip player_id='2611198' first='Brian' last='Kapfer'] a 2026 6”4 player. He can score from all three levels. Sneaky athletic. Draws defenders and then has the vision to find the open man.

[player_tooltip player_id='2234134' first='Londyn' last='Hill'] a 2027 6”1 guard can create for himself or teammates. Excellent vision and handles the ball really well. Possesses an excellent PG skillset.
[player_tooltip player_id='2780678' first='Jake' last='Toomer'] 2028 6”1 has great confidence and poise for a younger player. Understands his job of running the point or handling the ball but has three level scoring ability. Excited to see him play.
Finbar Duffy will give the added size that is always important in the city. 6”7 2026 he is a defensive presence in the paint. Great work ethic. Outstanding rebounder on both ends.

Farrell will use depth and interchangeable parts. First man up is J J Yates 2026 6”2. J J does a lot of good things on the floor. He can score multiple ways. Really good at drawing defenders and then finding the open man. He hunts rebounds .
[player_tooltip player_id='2027753' first='Matt' last='Scalisi'] 6”0 2026 has a high basketball IQ who makes a difference every time he is on the floor. Can score in a variety of ways.

Four juniors will be front and center for the Lions. 6”5 [player_tooltip player_id='2234301' first='Ryan' last='Hanley'] is a matchup problem with his ability to score multiple ways. He can shoot the three very well creating an issue for bigger players guarding him on the perimeter. But then smaller players are under extreme pressure from stopping him inside. Outstanding rebounder and rim protector. Ryan has grown 4 inches since his freshman year so he still has the guard skillset with good size now.

[player_tooltip player_id='2234133' first='Mike' last='Abreu'] 6”2 can shoot it off the catch or off his own dribble. Outstanding rebounder with the uncanny ability to always be near the ball. Crafty scorer around the rim. Tough and gritty defender.

[player_tooltip player_id='2234119' first='Jack' last='Gomez'] 5”11 a heady point guard with a high basketball IQ. He is a knock down shooter with unlimited range. He can run the offense with his ability to handle the ball in tight quaters. He is a scoring point guard who understands his position. Great defensive anticipation skills

[player_tooltip player_id='2234127' first='Gavin' last='Mullen'] 6”3 will add good size and toughness. A center type player who moves really well without the ball. Either popping out or creating space inside. Really good sealing his man gaining position and scoring at the rim. Has a soft touch which complements his mid range game. Rim protection and rebounding makes him an important piece to the roster

*****It has come to my attention that there is no longer a North and South division. It is now 1 division devised of 9 teams. Lasalle is now a B class division team. *******
