Preseason Prize fight at Sante Fe Catholic: See who stood out

The Santa Fe shootout was an excellent fall experience that provided valuable practice for some of the top teams in the area. It was held at Santa Fe Catholic High School.   In a highly competitive game, Victory Christian emerged victorious against Bell Creek in Game 1. Both teams showcased their scoring prowess, and they are poised to be among the top-scoring teams in the state. Victory Christian's star player, [player_tooltip player_id='2810621' first='Christian' last='Fuller'], led all scorers with an impressive 25 points. This 2027 guard possesses exceptional scoring ability on all three levels of the court and demonstrates excellent ball-handling skills under pressure. On the other hand, Bell Creek had a few promising players. 2028 [player_tooltip player_id='2978816' first='Jaylan' last='Johnson'] was particularly impressive, hitting a remarkable five three-pointers in the first half. He led the team with 19 points and demonstrated strategic shot selection, despite facing numerous defensive assignments. His performance suggests that he is set to have a significant season ahead. Additionally, 2027 Derrick Muse also had a standout shooting performance, hitting four three-pointers and two impressive dunks.     The second game was very exciting as well as Santa Fe defeated Bell Creek in a competitive game until the end as well. Senior [player_tooltip player_id='2884444' first='Toby' last='Lane'] is one of the best leaders in the state. The 2nd team all-state guard is a pesky defender and hits every category on the offensive end. Senior [player_tooltip player_id='2980743' first='Ocean' last='Thompson'] from Bell Creek found his touch and had a game-high 14. We expect all three teams to make a deep run this year. Great coaching and tons of talent on both teams.    Whenever Ocean is on the perimeter, he becomes an unstoppable force. His exceptional shooting ability from beyond the arc, coupled with his high shooting percentage, makes him a formidable matchup. His catch-and-shoot skills are elite, and he consistently scores in bunches. Ocean's senior season is poised to be a remarkable one, with his name likely to grace numerous highlight reels.     Christian is an elite scorer right from tip off. Once the ball is in his hands he's almost guaranteed to score. He can hit from anywhere with the defense in his face. When defense doubles he finds the open man for easy assists. The Victory Christian guard is going to impact them in so many positive ways and help them make a deep run for the state championship.     Toby, a senior standout, is an offensive force to be reckoned with. With the ball in his hands, he's nearly unstoppable. He knows how to take the shot he wants and never settles for what the defense offers. His scoring prowess leads to big bunches of points, propelling his team to victories. This talented player is sure to light up the stats all season.     Jaylan, a combo guard, facilitates plays and creates scoring opportunities for his teammates. He effectively involves all his teammates and provides them with easy looks to score. As a sophomore, Jaylan's performance should improve significantly. He has grown a few more inches and his athleticism has doubled. He also remains a top-tier defender and a fierce competitor. He plays a crucial role in Bell Creek's winning formula.     Derrick's unique scoring ability makes him one of the toughest matchups on the court. He can play above the rim or shoot from deep, and his offense has multiple levels, making him an absolute menace to his opponents.
