Expert Analysis
Terry Drake | Prep Hoops Scout
Jaylan returns as the Panthers’ captain and lead guard, carrying responsibility for both the direction of the offense and the tone of the team. At 6-foot-3, he brings positional size to the PG spot, while his playmaking gives Bell Creek a foundation for its preferred pace. His role is to get the team organized, create opportunities for others, and recognize when to push an advantage. Coach Johnson believes his floor general deserves more recognition, pointing to what he describes as nationally ranked assist production. That emphasis speaks to the value the staff places on his ability to make teammates better. With

Jaylan is a lead guard who is really good at initiating the offense and running the show. His ability to create off the bounce and generate paint touches gives the offense a way to put pressure on the defense. Getting into the lane forces defenders to react, and his penetration creates opportunities beyond the initial action. He brings value as a scoring threat and a playmaker who can get a possession moving and work toward an advantage with the ball in his hands. He turns paint touches into quality decisions as he knows when to pursue his own scoring opportunity, deliver the ball to a teammate, or pull the action back out. Continued growth in pace and control will help him get more out of his ability to penetrate.
