The Pangos All-Midwest Frosh/Soph Camp is annually one of the best events to check out young talent each fall. This year was no different. Here I examine prospects that made noise in Pangos Frosh/Soph Camp: Illinois 2028 Point Guards!

[player_tooltip player_id='2531979' first='CJ' last='Pittman'] (Walter Payton – 2028)

Pittman is a strong bodied 6'0” scoring guard that is so crafty off the bounce. Excels in transition where he racked up quite a few points. Can get downhill with his strength and first step for scores at the rim.

[player_tooltip player_id='2834050' first='Jaivyn' last='Richardson'] (Whitney Young – 2028)

Richardson had a really strong showing in the game we saw. The 5'7” guard works well around ball screens getting in the paint for soft touch finishes. Slick ball handler that shook defenders for creative layups. Good three point shooter that can hit them off the catch, creating on his own, and step backs. Excellent passing instincts and feel for the game.

Devaun Bates (DePaul Prep – 2028)

Bates is a 6'0” 2028 guard that plays with a ton of speed. He pushes the pace getting to the rack and charity stripe on a regular basis. Bounce to his game and is acrobatic converting reverse layups. Smooth takes to the rim and can shake defenders off the bounce. Has deep range on the three ball pulling up.

[player_tooltip player_id='2834186' first='Nigel' last='Moore'] (Peoria – 2028)

Moore is primed for a big year on a young up and coming Peoria squad that has reloaded with 2028 talent. Shifty ball handler that plays with burst on straight line takes to the cup. Can also thread the needle as a passer.

[player_tooltip player_id='2963414' first='Stephen' last='Dixon'] (De La Salle – 2028)

Dixon is a 2028 5'10” point guard that brings energy to the game. Acrobatic layup maker that can really shoot it off the catch whether it is from mid-range or pulling up from three which he got rolling late in the game we saw.

[player_tooltip player_id='2837670' first='MJ' last='Johnson'] (Oswego – 2028)

Johnson is a smaller point guard at 5'10” that showed he was capable of knocking in a spot up three. Also snuck in several times for put backs from his guard spot.

Gabriel Smith (Lindblom – 2028)

The Lindblom 6'0” point guard is a good passer that excels making others better. Hit teammates off live dribbles and throwing lob passes. Southpaw also showcased a float game, but would rather pass than score.

Thomas Queroz (Lincoln Park – 2028)

Name to watch for down the line at Lincon Park. The 5'10” point guard got to the charity stripe and was most effective scoring in the paint with layups.

Darrin Laye (Marshall – 2028)

This Marshall 2028 5'11” guard emerged with his length and strength. Passing feel hitting guys on the move while getting downhill with his shifty handles. Consistently got to the rim. Flashed passing off live dribbles with either hand.

[player_tooltip player_id='2963436' first='Landon' last='Cooper Sutton'] (Champaign Central – 2028)

Tiny 5'9” point guard that knocked in a few jumpers hitting one from the baseline and another lefty three on a step back. Also mixed in a score in transition.
