-Toatley was his usual productive self in a win over AOA prep, shooting 8/13 from the floor with a pretty diverse shot diet. Toatley hit two 3s by relocating well off the ball to open space, pushed the ball with great pace in transition (often by snagging the defensive rebound in traffic), and served as a pesky POA defender. His screen navigation has improved defensively as he's using an advanced frame to fight over or through ball screens to stay in front of his matchup. His most impressive play was a rip through drive into a hop step in traffic before scoring with the inside hand at the rim through the contact for the And-1 bucket. Toatley should be a consistent and productive scoring option for a new Bethel coaching staff in his senior season.

-I wouldn't call Murphy a prospect with a ton of burst but he really can elevate to snag rebounds in traffic. His ability to chip down for rebounds to help out the bigs was huge for his team in closing out several key possessions late in the 2H. At the offensive end of the floor Murphy will serve as a key slasher that gets high percentage looks at the rim and earns several trips to the FT line each game. The midrange jumper is consistent off the bounce or off the catch, although I would like to see him take and make more 3s as it becomes a higher percentage look for him. But his size and frame allow him to bully most defenders off their spot on his drives to the basket.

-Will be one of my early picks for stockrisers this season out of the DMV to make a name for himself on the national level. Veney was efficient and productive with a near double-double without playing the last 8 or so minutes of the game. He caught an alley oop and finger rolled it through the net, froze an opposing big with a beautiful up n under in transition, read the offensive player perfectly to jump a passing lane for a steal and dunk, came off a screen and threw a dart of a bounce pass from the wing to the opposite block-- his control over the pace of the game at both ends of the floor without a ton of flash should allow him to continue to garner HM interest. Should make a name for himself on a local and national scale with an uptick in usage and role that should make him their best player this season.

-Arnold is doing a postgrad year at Fork Union Military Academy and quickly captured the attention of the sidelines with his command of a team. He is a quick point guard that can change speeds quickly in the open court thanks to an advanced handle and he always has his head up for passing options. Loved his wiggle off the bounce with or without a ball screen to create advantage opportunities for his team with his defender behind him in jail on his back hip. Can execute a flurry of different passing reads with either hand and showed great touch in the paint. Expect his recruitment to receive a boost as the head of the snake for a very balanced FUMA team.

-One of the more physically-imposing guards in the area grew an inch and has filled out his frame even more by attacking his strength and conditioning program at SJC. His upside defensively was on display as he collected two blocks and a steal by halftime, showing his effectiveness both on and off the ball as an aggressive defender that takes calculated risks within SJC's defensive schemes. Love the way that he anticipates where his matchup is driving to and when they are going to hit him with a pump fake or shoot the ball under the basket--showing advanced feel for a prospect his age. Want to see him be more aggressive with the ball in his hands to become a consistent double-figure scorer for a SJC group that will need it. He's worked hard on his jumper and his handle has improved to become an efficient secondary creator from the wings. Did see that assertive nature on a rip n go through the defense straight down the pipe for an emphatic dunk and later in the game on an attempted poster dunk after collecting another steal in transition.

-Iyer looked good in limited minutes in new threads with Bethel. The junior guard used a tighter handle to break down his matchup off the bounce or glide through fullcourt defensive schemes. He started off the game hot, checking into the game midway through the 1H to immediately snag a steal then throw a beautifully-timed pocket pass to a streaking teammate in transition for the And-1 lay. He followed that up with another steal and a layup, then closed off the hot streak with a pump fake and duck under into the 1-dribble pull-up midrange jumper that hit nothing but net. But the most drastic development in his toolbox that I saw was the dramatic lateral quickness improvement as he did a great job defensively by riding his matchup over screens, denying the ball, and staying down on pump fakes.
