The winter season is approaching soon, and with fall leagues coming to a close, I went to see who was ramping up their game in anticipation of the upcoming high school season. Check out a few standout guards from the past week of fall league action.

Fisher has been a steady improver over the summer, and after checking him out at fall league, he looks ready for a big senior season. He's a powerful guard whose eyes got big every time a lane opened up for him. He went strong to the hoop, used his strength to power through contact, and did some great finishing at the rim. Another factor in his success is his quick decision-making. He catches ready to attack, and if it's not there, he'll set up some action or keep the ball flowing.

Brooks is an all-around guard who can impact the game in a lot of ways, and much of that comes down to how strong and hard he plays through everything he does. He defends on and off the ball, boxes out, protects his dribble, and marks hard, quick attacks. He had a great sequence on Tuesday, entering the ball to the high post from the top, relocating to the wing, and getting the ball back, then attacked the late closeout, drew help, and found the high post diver for a layup.

Webster was a menace getting downhill with big bursts of speed on Tuesday, and showed some great footwork and balance to get around defenders and to the cup. Time and again, he saw space and darted by perimeter defenders with some great acceleration. He also showed off that speed on the defensive end, flying into passing lanes and racking up a few steals.

Got to see Zilliax with Seattle Academy for the first time this fall, and he was lighting it up from behind the arc. He's starting to show he can identify mismatches and how to attack them differently, and what spots to attack from. Another moment of learning came when he was late to get his hand up on a much shorter shooter from 3. He wouldn't make the same mistake twice, blocking the next guy who tried to hoist a three over him.

Kan continues his hot string of play and looks like one of the biggest risers heading into the season. His outside shot has been on point and his confidence from deep has helped him find more space inside too. He did a great job finding easy passes through the defense, stayed with plays to get some tip-ins, and showed off some good footwork on both ends of the floor.

Skaggs is a slippery player who gets real creative with his change of direction, footwork through traffic, and ability to hit shots from almost any angle. He was their main creator on Tuesday and had to create a ton of offense himself, but he's shown he can hit those tough shots. He sunk an and-one 3-pointer with just under 30 seconds left in the game to cut their deficit to two, highlighting his shot-making ability.
