LaSalle possesses a smooth jump shot with the ability to put up points in a variety of ways, both inside and outside the arc. LaSalle's sound handle will also prove to be a valuable asset for a Gateway Charter team that is very young, yet extremely talented. Transferring to Charlotte High School, Newson is a major get for the Tarpons and someone who's certain to aid them on their quest to lift their fifth district title in a row. As a point guard, Newson is an excellent shot creator with speed and a quick twitch that is a nightmare for opposing guards. With shooters all around him, Powell's unselfishness will be on full display this season, giving people a full glimpse as to how talented and complete he is as a player. As a sophomore, Nestor led Port Charlotte in scoring while providing valuable effort and intensity on the defensive side of the ball. With his infectious energy, Nestor provides his new team, the Charlotte Tarpons, with another dangerous guard who already has experience playing in big-time games.
