NJ Legacy Get In Get Out Showcase Further Standouts

Amid a busy stretch of fall preseason showcases, New Jersey Legacy Basketball hosted another high-level event this past weekend, bringing together some of North Jersey's premier talent. Taking place at Weequahic High School in Newark, NJ, the showcase featured high-intensity matchups between top programs and highlighted several impressive individual performances. This one-day event provided an early glimpse into the roles players may take on heading into the upcoming high school season. Here's a look at more prospects who made a strong impression during Saturday's action.    Engineering a lot of offense for Roselle Catholic, [player_tooltip player_id='1963393' first='Tyrease' last='Hunter'] displayed a diverse scoring attack with the different ways he was able to score the basketball. Pretty efficient and under control, Hunter showcased his shooting ability from three point range, particularly on the move off screens and pin downs while also flashing his in between area shot making with different floaters and pull ups in the paint. Hunter also mixed in a few creative finishes at the basket.     Incredibly athletic with a lot of the right physical tools but still developing, [player_tooltip player_id='2879104' first='Flory' last='Kuminga']'s eye popping athleticism and relentless motor flashed almost immediately. Kuminga pinned multiple shots against the glass in transition with his impeccable timing and length. Kuminga also flashed his quick first step when attacking the basket on offense, as he poses as an aggressive downhill threat. Already checking a lot of boxes physically, the younger Kuminga brothers is one to keep tabs on as he continues to refine his skillset.     Providing solid spot minutes out The Patrick School's backcourt, Lis Banishi was extremely reliable in the time he spent on the court. Thriving as an off ball threat, Banishi did an excellent job of knocking down open shots from three point range throughout the course of Saturday's action. Banishi showcased an ability to be a respectable threat that defenses had to close out on from three, shooting the three ball with confidence and in rhythm.     A confident shooter with a smooth and compact shooting release, Julian Estrella shined in the ways he was able to be an efficient and dangerous threat from both the perimeter and mid range area. Estrella shot the ball well off the catch from three point range and even showed fluidity off the bounce when defenses closed out on and forced him into the mid range area. Estrella also mixed in some strong finishes at the rim in transition.     A dynamic shot creator with a ton of flare, [player_tooltip player_id='1729825' first='Trey' last='Lewis'] excelled as a versatile scorer, demonstrating his ability to attack off the dribble with creativity and a variety of combo moves. He effectively used his strong frame to play off bumps on drives and finish through contact in traffic around the rim. Lewis also displayed good touch on a handful of finishes.     Stepping into a larger role offensively on the day due to some injuries on the roster, [player_tooltip player_id='2201964' first='Elijah' last='Caldwell'] stepped up and delivered an impressive performance. Caldwell shined knocking down shots off the catch and even off the bounce out on the perimeter and the mid range area. Caldwell even showed flashes of his creativity off the bounce, getting to the rim a couple of times off the dribble and finishing with a little bit of craftiness around the basket.     [player_tooltip player_id='2201954' first='Jkhai' last='Singletary'] stood out in transition, both as a dynamic initiator who could push the pace himself and as an explosive lane runner, finishing strong at the rim while also finishing some plays above the rim. He showed glimpses of his perimeter shooting potential, featuring a smooth and compact release. Defensively and on the boards, Singletary effectively leveraged his length, athleticism, and relentless motor—making his presence felt by crashing the offensive glass and challenging shots at the rim.     An extremely effective multi faceted offensive weapon, [player_tooltip player_id='1595680' first='Mason' last='Santiago'] excelled as a guy contribute in multiple areas on the floor. Santiago was seen knocking down open shots, initiating offense, playmaking and creating for others, attacking the basket off the bounce, and even using his stronger frame to contribute in the rebounding department. A versatile piece on the offensive end, Santiago demonstrated a solid feel for the game in the different ways he was able to impact the game offensively.     Demonstrating his multi-level scoring ability, [player_tooltip player_id='2342644' first='Justin' last='Hunt'] showcased his versatility as a scorer on the ball. He found success by attacking defenders in transition and finishing through contact at the rim, knocking down catch and shoot threes, scoring from the mid-post, and even showing flashes creating opportunities off the dribble in isolation scenarios. Possessing a stronger and bigger frame, Hunt also impressed with his ability to play off different bumps and play through contact when attacking the basket.     A real spark plug offensively as a confident perimeter shot maker, Byron Vanterpool displayed his versatility as a shooter. Hunting his shot exceptionally well, Vanterpool shot it well off the catch, being patient in the half court waiting for ball reversals to find him. Vanterpool also showcased his ability to shoot it well on the move, sprinting the floor to the corners and wings and stepping into in rhythm opportunities in transition. Vanterpool also showed flashes of his smooth shot making off the bounce.
