He is a tough minded guard who continues to play like a true “floor general.” I enjoyed watching this young man lead his Beech Grove team Saturday afternoon. Kyson is a great passer who showed a knack for setting up his teammates for high percentage shots. He finished the game as the team's leader in assists. Kyson excelled at getting to the basket. He scored most of his points on strong finishes at the rim. Whenever the opportunity was available to knock down perimeter shots, Kyson showed no hesitation. On defense, he was great at applying on ball pressure to the opposition. This led to Kyson having multiple steals throughout the game. As I said, this young man is an awesome lead guard. The first time was during AAU season this past spring. He continues to be an excellent rebounder! Destin was a physical presence in the paint on both ends of the floor. He grabbed offensive rebounds, scored around the basket and knocked down perimeter shots. On the defensive end of the court, he battled opposing players for every board he got his hands on. Ultimately, finishing the game with ten plus rebounds. On offense he attacked the basket, scored from mid-range and showed an improved ability to make three-pointers. Defensively, he pressured the opposition into turnovers with his physical style of play. Destin also used his athleticism to block multiple shots in the paint. He plays hard on both ends of the court. Zane showed the ability to beat opponents off the dribble, get to the basket and knock down jump-shots. He easily scored in the paint with lay-ups or low post moves over smaller defenders. Zane is an excellent rebounding forward who can push the pace and lead fast-breaks. There were numerous occasions where he grabbed the board, pushed the ball up-court and scored tough baskets down the lane. Zane showed his versatility as a play-maker for the Franklin Community squad. He threw pin-point assists, knocked down multiple threes and made all the necessary plays needed to win. Defensively, he protected the paint, blocked shots and applied great on-ball pressure to players on the perimeter. Whether it's scoring, passing, rebounding or defending, he was always in the flow of the game. Cohen is a great ball handler who is capable of scoring from every level of the court. In Saturday's game, I watched him attack the basket by constantly beating his opponent off the dribble. Whenever he had a chance to score from mid-range, Cohen took advantage of the situation. He also showed the ability to extend his range beyond the three-point line. Cohen is a tough player who did not mind battling for rebounds in the paint. On numerous occasions he grab defensive rebounds that led to transition starters for his teammates. Defensively, he caused problems for his opponents by pressing them into turnovers. I believe he will continue to prosper on the basketball court. Avery has the size of a small forward but the handles and scoring of a shooting guard. He showed the ability to post up smaller players or beat them off the dribble. There were numerous occasions, where Avery attacked the basket and finished strong at the rim. Sometimes he did it in transition, other times he attacked opposing players during half-court sets. Avery was also a threat on the perimeter. He knocked down numerous shots from mid and long range. He's a hardworking player who gave maximum effort on both ends of the court. Avery attacked the glass with ferociousness! Especially on the offensive side of the ball. Whenever his teammates missed a shot, Avery was there to grab it and score.
